--In the last few weeks, I have noticed DPReviews threads taking a long time to load when clicking on them. Anyone else noticed this?

I am running high speed DSL with industry standard equipment that simply cranks, and I have had no lag in other sites I normally visit. But lately DPR is slowing to a craw in certain threads. Especially STF.. Just thought I would mention it.

Haven't noticed it Vaughn. Perhaps it's a problem with your ISP?

I have noticed that as well. EEarlier today I made a reference to slow loading pictures, but overall load times have definitely increased. I must say it is intermittent, though. I am als on a speedy connection, cable, and zoo through other sites at the same times I am slow on DPReview.
This surely is a testiment to DPReview huge popularity.
Scared to think that way, but ... Welcome User's Fees?

Slow loading pictures is not the problem of DPR. It's where the pictures are hosted. Pbase has been really slow lately.

Hello Vaughn, I have VERY DEFINITELY noticed this. No lag in other sites also. Seems to be only certain threads and replies in those threads. Top level pages and reviews etc. seem much faster. If you copy the link to the reply of a thread and then close your browser and then re-open the browser and paste the link, it loads very fast, if you just wait for it to load after clicking the link, it takes forever. As you say, it has been getting worse in the last few weeks. Anyone else notice this? Tom.

Yes, I have seen it too. It seems to be slower in the mornings and then picks up in the afternoon and evenings. Interestingly, PBase seems to be working fine.

I have also noticed slow periods loading certain threads. I always use a high speed link to connect as well. Maybe the Sony forum is getting too popular. :)

"Top level pages and reviews etc. seem much faster"..Of course it loads faster Latner.....it's stored in cache memory (temporary Internet files). The photos that are posted for new posts are located on other servers and load times for them depend on that server and your ISP's route to and from that server.

I have seen the same thing - not sure what is up. Tried the site from
other providers and same results - thinking that it is on the site end.

'If one really wishes to be master of an art, technical knowledge of it is not enough. One has to transcend technique so that the art becomes an 'artless art' growing out of the Unconscious.'

Not only slowing down a bit, but really getting stuck for a few minutes even to show a simple message without picture or even for loading the dpreview front page.

At the same time no problem with any other site, including pbase.

Are you experiencing this problem consistently at all times of day ?

I only ask because out here in Hong Kong I have a high speed (6M) broadband connection, but have only really noticed DPreview dragging its heels at around 4am UK time - and presumed that was just due to backup procedures. By 12.30pm HKT (4.30am UK) the response rate is normally fine again. But to be honest I haven't been scientifically analysing this on a daily basis - so will keep an eye on it over the next few days...

Happened twice reading this thread just now in fact. And I have a rock solid high speed DSL connection. I've been noticing it for a while but haven't noted a pattern. It has nothing to do with embedded images though. I've been meaning to try using Netscape. I use IE 6+ usually and when the early release of IE6 was first out it did not like this site much(had to do with security settings/cookies)
