Expensive set-up! Kitchen countertop, foam core board, $25 worth of black velveteen, overhead kitchen halogen light, some lilies I bought myself over the weekend, and a lot of cabin-fever boredom during this long cold gray winter! Cheers, Sandi

Sandra,

WOW!! Any more clearer and you could see the molecular structure!

Like Shiela said, you guys should be on the Nikon Talk Forum where it all started. We'll be looking for you there.

Age doesn't always bring wisdom. Sometimes age comes alone.

If you folks here will excuse me, I've been looking for this lady for a while now. She's a escapee from NTF, sigh , she gets out every now and then and we have to hunt her down and briiiiiing her back, usually kicking and screaming all the way.
She is pretty darn good though, isn't she!

Sandra, not only can you join, I've nominated for the executive committee. What a wonderful macro! Did you manually white balance to get those colors?

One of the most incredible photos I've ever seen. Exceptional.

You know, of course, that it wasn't the apple in the tree that caused all those problems. It was the 'pair' on the ground! :-)

Danny, coming from you, that is quite a compliment! And to think this shot just came from sheer boredom. I'm itching to get outside to take some "real" pictures, but winter seems to be hanging around.

The top lighting was enhanced by the black velvet draped over the foamcore board, and also over the countertop, stopping light bouncing back up. I'm going to try it again tonight with the vase sitting on a white surface, and see how much light comes back up off it, illuminating the underside of the petals.

Good quip about Adam & Eve LOL
Cheers, Sandi

No No No, Unkie Frank, I only want to be a member. I've had enough Committees in my lifetime, thank you very much. I just wanna take pictures and make people smile. That's enough for me! But I think the members should attend regular Thursday night meetings, in their own kitchen, raise a glass of wine high, and say a toast to the foamcore board manufacturers, the weavers of velvet, the Nikon gods who supply/take care of us, and of course, each other - without whose support and friendship, this just wouldn't be as much fun and we wouldn't learn as much! Cheers to all of us! Sandi
PS yes, manual WB as often as I can - when I remember!

Great picture Sandra. May the winter be long so we'll get more images like this one from you.
