What Camera on Shuttle

Look where the lens is mounted as related to the bottom of the camera. Sits pretty high doesn't it? Also the side has a definite curvature. Side strap?

My bet would be Kodak. Also, as I recall, Kodak had the contract and replaced hassy. I will check with Jay as he's pretty good about relating such things. 660, 760 perhaps, but definitely shaped liked one of these models IMO.

After looking at the photos of the 660 and 760, I have to say definitely not. You know it does have the shape of the 14n though!

I don't know, except for that curved side (possibly image distortion) yes, it could be a D1X or even a 1D. Perhaps the flash is the key?

NASA has flown the F5 in the past:

http://www.nikon.co.jp/main/eng/news/2000/f5eva_e_00.htm

In fact it went on a space walk unprotected--the only change from a standard F5 was a different spec lubricant.

The ISS uses a Kodak DCS 760:

Scroll down to the 2 March entry.

Finally, here is a gallery of images of STS-107 on the NASA site. Some the images show the astronauts training with the imaging equipment, and an F5 is clearly visible in one of the photos. Some the pictures they captured in orbit are just incredible:

The prism is an F5, not D1x, prism. Compare:

Nope, that's the Multi control back MF-28 on the F5 body. D1X doesn't have the multiple exposure button (the white marking at the right front side of the viewfinder), but can be found on Nikon F5. I'm pretty sure now it is F5. :)

Looks like a D1x. From an earlier mission:

Now the camera on the upper left in your photo has a film rewind knob on the top left. Unless my eyes are really going wacky I would say that was an F5. The one he's holding? I give up again.

The "walk on the moon" used an Olympus OM-1n, the first shuttle flights used Olympus OM-4ti's. There were several purpose built Zuiko (Olympus) lenses for NASA also.. I think there were many types used over the years..

sorry if I didn't clearly expalining. The marking is near the viewfinder, not on the viewfinder. just compare the F5 top plate and D1x top plate...:)

The one in his hand, I believe it's also F5. They used to bring many F5 bodies in one mission.
