I was going to get the WC-63 or WC-24 (had not yet decided) but the guy at the store talked me into a fisheye. I shot a few shots with it but although it's a neat effect and I'm sure it has it's place - does not replace the 24mm wide angle (WC-63/24). I think I might exchange it for either of the 2 wide angles. Not sure which one to go with now that I saw the comparissons in another thread. Does anyone have the fisheye - do you love it or hate it? Should I keep it or exchange it?

Thanks,

John L

Ihave both the fisheye and the WC-24. I like them both. The fisheye is loads of fun. I have only used the fisheye a few time; primarily work related.
If I could only have one I would choose the WC-24.
If I could figure out how to attach the pics I could show you the differance.

Hello,

I have the fisheye and the WC-E63 and like both of them. They both have their place. I would have to say that the WC-E63 is a bit more usefull in day to day shooting.

If you want to do any IPIX on immersive panorama shots you are going to need the fisheye. I have found that the fisheye is also nice as a superwide angle lens when you use it zoomed all the way in.

If you look at my page of images you will see some of my fisheye shots. I just got the WC-E63 so have not had time to put any of these up yet.

Can the Fisheye be zoomed in so that it's full-frame, rather than having the
vignette? I'm not crazy about the vignetting.

Cheers,

I uploaded some photos of a deck I built to OTFOTO. There are two shots from the same location. A fisheye and a WC-24. I hope you can get there from here and compair their differances.

Dan,

Your pictures are superb! I just got back from California where I shot over 500 photos and not one of them look anything close to the quality and clarity of your shots!! (especially my night shots--nearly all of them are blurry) Your work speaks volumes!! If you have a tip or two for night shooting, I'm open!! Thanks for sharing!

Sincerely,

Joseph, the Newbie!

Yes, set the camera to Fisheye 2 rather than Fishey 1.

Actually, you can skip those settings and just zoom the lens over the full range. In 35-mm equivalence terms, the fish-eye gives you from 8-mm to 24-mm (albeit with a lot of distortion) and either wide-angle goes from 24 to 72. Both can be used in the macro mode and, with the fish-eye in macro it focuses right down to the front element of the lens attachment

A caution when doing close-ups with these lenses: be sure that the front element of the prime lens and both front and back elements of the lens attachment are very clean because, with the depth of field possible, any dust may be picked up on the image.
