Hi All,

I, assuming like most here, have gone through several camera bags looking for that perfect one. Still haven't found it. I've often dreamed about designing my own bag to my liking and I think might finally give it a shot (I know someone who can prototype something like this).

Here's what I'm looking for:
  • messenger style bag that can be slung over the shoulder
  • decent padding (nothing flimsy)
  • room for one body with 6" lens attached
  • room for 70-200/2.8 sized lens unattached
  • room for another medium sized lens or two smaller lenses
  • room for flash
  • compartment for memory, white/grey card, lens cleaners, etc.
  • slim profile that hangs close to the body
  • modern design, materials, and colors that looks more like a stylish messenger than stodgy camera bag (screaming "steal me!")
I have a Tamrac Messenger 7 but it's a little too wide, flimsy, and padding is too thin. feels cheap too. I like lowpro's quality and workmanship but they don't have anything similar to what I want. The Bob Krist bag seems nice, but a little too big. Not too fond of the styling either.

So with all that said, anyone feel the same? If you could design your own dream bag, what would you want?

Thanks,

Rick

My ideal bag would hold all my camera equipment, my laptop and accessories, lunch for two, a change of clothes and shaving kit, would fit under an airplane seat when full, would be impervious to rain, wind, snow, and shocks, would be designed to defy the laws of physics so that the more equipment I put in it, the lighter it gets, and would retail for $49.99 with a $30 mail in rebate.

[waits for manufacturer to design bag to above specs]

I want something to be able to cart all of my gear onto a plane when I go away. Including a Laptop for editing at night, instead of the usual book reading.

Came up with the Lowepro Stealth backpack and the Tamrac 757. Haven't seen them in a shop yet, but am going to a show soon so hope to see them there. Also like the backback designs as they don't shout "Camera in here". They also make it easy to carry something in your hands too. Like a camera!

A black box recorder and a silver one :-)

Loads of glass: A conservatory, a greenhouse, a set of 12 matching wine glasses, and a nice decanter to go with them.
A table and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I need something modeled on the tardus (you know, Dr. Who, larger on the inside than on the outside . . .). ;-)

One that would have the latest and greatest camera every time I opened it. It would come with a Victoria's Secret model, of course.

Might as well add "peace in the world", as an option.
