Anyway there was a time when I visited Spain many times a year ( aspecially Barcelona and Valencia { lighting Fair } ). It was a wonderfull time I spent there....... )))

I went into the main Sony shop today here in Paris and asked them about the HAF problem here in France. Blank stares and incredulity.

They knew nothing about it and claimed they had had no returns, complaints or problems.

Frankly, that worries me more than the problem itself because it will be a nightmare to get fixed if they don't accept it exists.
I shall go back fully armed.

mine starts with 1719. I had a few OOF shots I couldn't explain, so I guess now I could have an explanation, thanks for the post. I'm afraid it'll be hard to have it fixed in Italy, though... but I'll try.

Anyway, is there a way to make sure the problem is actually there, or is it random?

These are only an aproximation. There were other posts staing that there were others who had to return their camera for the HAF and their serial #s were 400 and above these listings. It also depends on if the retailer actually returned the units and other factors play into this situation. In my case my 717 is 1000#s above for Canada, and my 1 week old camera is in for repairs for not focusing proerly in low light and all flash subjects. The good news is that I should have the camera back tomorrow and greatly look forward to using this camera with the corrections applied! All in all it has to be said that the 717 is the best resolution 5Mp camera, and if your camera focus is not a problem, don't worry about it, just shoot some pics, and enjoy the quality output this camera can produce.-Tim.
