Can someone shed light on this situation. The line only appears when the camera is set to ISO 400. It is faint, but appears at the lower left portion of the photo. I believe I have a defective G3 and am preparing to return the unit by mail from where I purchased.

Walt,

I had the same problem (even more visible: http://www3.sympatico.ca/b.pontbriand/g3/g3_line.html ) and got it exchanged for a new one. This is something that can get worse over time.

You mentioned that you returned your camera. Do you now have a G3 and have you since experienced the same problem.

Yes, I got another G3 and it is perfect! No dead pixels or lines, very clean. I was offered to exchange it for a different model but my mind was set on the G3 - I didn't spend weeks looking at samples for nothing! ;-)
If you can still exchange it, I'd say go for it!

Cheers!
