A friend of mine tried to use his Lexar CF card in his CP995 and when he turned the camera on the screen simply read "This card is Unusable" or some similar message. I tried the card in my camera and got the same message. The camera will not accept the card at all to be able to format it in the camera.

Could somebody please suggest a way to fix this card.

Can it be formatted on a PC? How about using Fdisk to partition the card? How do you do this formatting and/or partitioning on a CF card?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

TIA!

I had the exact same problem with the brand new 32mb Lexar CF that came with my camera. I never did get it to work, but I ended up getting a 512mb Viking card anyway.

Somebody told me (and I'm not sure what to believe about this) that the CF cards can get fried in the mail if subjected to the anti-anthrax irradiation that some mail gets exposed to.

Yes, CF cards can be fried by the USPS, but they can sometimes just quit. Send the card to Lexar for replacement.

You can try and format the compact flash card if you have a USB card reader. Try formatting it and see if it helps.
