Hi,

Quick Question. I got a TC-DC58N (for G3) teleconverter for Christmas. But I have a G2. I currently have a lensmate. What do I need to get this to work on my G2? Do I need a step-up ring? If so, what size?

Can I use Canons G2 lens attachment for this? Or does this teleconverter only fit the G3's lens attachment?

Thanks...

Joe,

A step-up ring 49 to 58 mm will mount the G3 TC-DC58N on the G2 LensMate but I find that the Canon G2 LA-DC58 is more appropriate - slightly more range of zoom without vignetting.

Both the G3 and G2 Canon lens adapters have 58 mm threads for mounting Canon converters.

RE: your lost lens cap

Within a week of getting my G2 and also my G3 my Canon lens caps were tossed into a drawer and a lens adapter, UV filter, lens hood and lens cap were mounted in their place. Since you have a LensMate what use could you have for the original cap?

I usually take my G2 with me while I snowboard. When I have the lensmate off, it still fits nicely in my pocket. However, with the lensmate on, it is a bit too bulky to take on the slopes.

FYI - Finally broke down and called canon. Although lens caps are not sold on their website (or any one's website for that matter), their replacement parts department sells them. Here's the number for anyone else who should need one.
