D100 weddings?

Here are a few...

My biggest gripe with the D100 at weddings was the AF. I'm used to using my D1x with the faster, more accurate AF system. The D100 is no slouch, but it was an adjustment for me. I used the 28-70 AFS and the 80-200 AFS most of the time. I shot in Raw for everything but the reception, which was captured in JPG Fine. The prints are spectacular.

There's my site, right there below ;) All D100, although I just bought an s2 to supplement it, mostly for the slightly better resolution, flash exposure, and WB. My initial impression is that the D100's files are more pliable in post processing, and that the D100 is much faster working and better handling (just "feels" better). Time will tell, but I plan on using the s2 with a wide lens and a flash, and putting fast primes on the D100 for available light, because I really like the way high ISO shots turn out on the D100. Both do an admirable job, though.

My only gripe with both cameras is the AF, which does have some troubles with hunting in low light (not nearly as much as Canon's D60/30) and tracks a little slow. Pretty darned good performance anyway, but it matters for the way I like to shoot, which is wide open with the long lenses. But I can't afford a D1X/H right now, and I think that having the Fuji's extra res for formals is more important than the slight increase in AF speed.

Hi,

I am completely re-designing my website, and when it's finished I'll post a link here to get some feedback. (I think I'll need to be thick-skinned). Anyway, here are a couple of D100 wedding pics (not quite in the same league as Joe or Doug, but I'm working on it).

Any sites posting D100 wedding shots?

Doug,

WONDERFUL PHOTOS..GREAT WEB SITE! I'd marry my husband all photos. I love your philosophy, which I'm SURE many couples/families do also.

I appreciate your view on using a long lens on the D100. You don't get those kind of shots being up in someones face. The shot of the groom wiping a tear almost made me cry :"( GOOD WORK!

Do you have any other photos online that you've used the D100 for? I'd love to see them. Once again. Good photos..good web site..good job!

Came back from work and am able to see many great shots with the D100 for weddings, Thanks! I went to the Ed Pierce seminar last night and watched Ken Sklute shoot with a 1Ds and I figured a D100 ought to be able to do well. It may be time to retire my N90 and move to the D100. I am only doing this part-time and the funds are just not there right now, otherwise I may be in the D1X mode.

Thanks again for all the wonderful pics, but don't stop --- keep 'em coming!

I'm curious what electronic flash unit you used for the reception, and the settings. I've been using SB80DX and DTTL, and I find some shots are quite overexposed. I've seen other photographers using Metz units instead, and there is no DTTL setting for those units (just old-fashioned Automatic mode based on sensor in the flash).
.. also, what did you use for lightning ?? The dress is crisply
white, but her skin tones are very warm ?? I like the look of that.
