What Camera has the best shot to shot times..

Hi all

Looking for a prosumer camera that has really good shot to shot
times....
Thanks

I´m pretty sure that would be the Minolta Dimage 7i/Hi ! Aside from all the other great things (said the enthusiastic owner of a 7Hi) these cameras have a 64MB buffer that allows even TIFF/RAW bursts up to 3 frames at least without having to "flush" to the card, and even them they are ready within 15 sec.

Clinton-

All the major prosumer models from Olympus, Canno, Nikkon, Fuji, and Sony have shot to shot times under 2.5 secs, and 3+fps burst modes for several shots. The best shot to shot times for a camera under $1200 I have seen is the Sony 717 at 1.6 sec.

Not bad. The S602Z can do 5fps RAW (18MB x 5 = 90+MB buffer) = 200mS shot-shot.

When I set manual white balance, and pre-focus, I easily get shot-shot well under 1 SEC (approx 0.5sec and better) using 6MP fine mode !!! (thats 2.0-2.5 MB Files !!)

That´s not bad! But then again, if You really need excellent quality, You have to go for RAW or TIFF files (Gives a lot more info for tweaking in PS if necessary), and this locks up both the FUJI and SONY for more than a minute (F717 won´t do RAW at all). So I´ll maintain that the D7Hi is the fastest camera below slr class (see reiew posted here http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/minoltadimage7hi/page9.asp , but also more expensive.

That said, it would appear that the Fuji 602z gives better performance in practise with the "last 5" option, especially for a far lower price.

Ok now Im confused - lets use TIFF for example.

The review says D7Hi TIFF (SuperFine) gives 14.5MB Files, and shoots 2.8 fps for 3 Frames. It takes 29 secs to store.

I just fired off 5 TIFF shots (both CF and SM) and I got 18.5 MB Files, shot at 5 fps for 5 Frames. It took 55 sec to store.
Doing the Maths -
D7Hi : 3x14.5 = 42MB / 29sec
1.45MB per sec
S602z : 5x18.1 = 90.5MB / 55sec
1.65MB per sec
(Exactly same rate when I shot only 3 Frames)

Considering I used "review" data for the D7Hi and ACTUAL data for the S602, I'd be happy to say they're both close enough, which IS EXACTLY what I would expect. ie The Flash write speed is the determining factor.
