Just want to make sure. My G3 arrived in a box that was not shrink wrapped or tape sealed. Is this correct?

...it never occurred to me. I bought mine at a reputable dealer (Black's in Toronto), and the box was not shrink wrapped or tape sealed. The manuals, however, were wrapped in plastic. I'm pretty sure I got an untouched, brand new camera...so I'll assume that yes, it is correct.

Usually has a bit of tabe over the opening of the box, but no wrap.
If you are concerned, say that the manuals and CD's looked opened and take it back.

My G3 wasn't wrapped or taped. I bought it new at a local camera shop.

I can not say for sure about the G3, but when I bought my G2, I observed the same thing and the salesman at CC went through every box they had in stock (about six of them). None were sealed. Only the manuals and software discs were sealed.

None of the Canon equipment I've ever seen came in a shrink-wrapped box. You can tell if the manuals or the camera itself has been opened by the condition of the plastic wrap around them. I've never seen any kind of seal tab covering the opening flaps either.

...it makes sense. I know the first thing I did when the salesman brought out my G3 was ask to look through the box to make sure everything was okay. I think if you're paying $1200 (Canadian), it's quite reasonable to inspect the goods before purchase.

My G3 didn't come shrink-wrapped or tape sealed. And neither did my G2 and A40 before that.
I got mine last week and the box was not shring-wrapped or tape sealed. I got it from B&H, a reputable dealer, and the box looked fresh and the manuals/software were sealed.

Mine came from Dell, everything looks OK, no evidence of use,manuals are still sealed, but there was no tape on the opening, thought thatweas strange.

I work in a camera shop, Canon does not shrink wrap nor tapes their boxes only low end cameras come that way, like HP Kodak and Sony

I would be sweating it if IT CAME SHRINK WRAPPED. Probably, from the prior comments, a sure fire sign that the retailer shrink wrapped it to make it look new.
