How about a fully manual Non IBIS Full Frame?

Yes, your thoughts make sense. There is only one point where I do not agree:

Even though the Leica is extremly expensive, it still is one of the best cameras money can buy. If you would have been @ photokina, you would have seen dozens of such expensive tools: the Sinars, Arca Swiss, Alpa, Phase one, linhof, Rodenstock lenses, Schneider Kreuznach lenses, Copal shutters, just to mention some of them.

Conclusion: there is a lot of photographic tools besides the main stream. Most of them are for a complete different kind of photography: take time, compose, feel, take a step to the side, smell, think, rearrange - click - ... Come home with only a few pictures taken. Some of them are extraordinary.

Have a nice day
Albert

PS: I cannot afford a Leica. At least I have a Leitz Pradovit 150.

It must be something Ansel Adams/Frank Capa would want for field work.
If they were around today, Capa would likely be using a D4 and Ansel would be shooting with D800e or 645D.
Ansel , probably, but Capa, a D4??? Far too big for his use. Prpbably a D800 as well, although I can imagine for much of his work a rather small sealed K-5IIs might do the trick, he might even go zoom with the 18-135. But the again Nikon would probably pay him to shoot Nikon.

A weather sealed ultra wide, is that too much to ask?

Interesting but it would be a niche within a niche....

The problem with a basic camera is that there is always one thing lacking that you would say "that is the one feature they should NOT have left out"

For one that would be sealing, for another one the SR, yet another one thinks the green button comes in handy. Without any f these features noty many people will buy it and guess what, those that do buy it woon't use it too often, for them it will be "the special one" which they will only use on special occasions. They probably end up with a K-01 or Q for day tot day use/
This is a continuation of a post I made at :

In other words, it’s a photographer’s digital camera – its all about the picture.
