I ordered the set Kendall linked here http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1027&message=42588858 and the Wasabi Power Battery and Charger Kit (for Ricoh) arrived yesterday. US$22.99 + 4.34 shipping through Amazon vendor Blue Nook http://wwwww.BlueNook.com

It has a WALL charger, an attachment for CAR charger, prongs for Euro socket fit AND two batteries. Not Ricoh-branded, but stated to be "Japanese cell" so hopefully more power-steady/durable than some other country knock-offs. The batteries charged up fine, fit perfectly in the DP2Merrill and the camera powers up. I'll take some photos today to be sure they last as well as the Sigma and Ricoh-branded batteries. But if these work well, that's a real relief price wise ...two for $22.99 WITH all the charging gear!

More later today hopefully, I'll give the SKU (product #) too later, when I'm sure these work well.

Best regards, Sandy

my dp2m came in a couple of days ago I'll be waiting for you findings sandy.
Where did you order from?
I ordered my DP2Merrill direct from Sigma and received it as one of the first in the US, I think. If people are looking for DP2Merrill's now, I'd suggest you contact Sigma re availability.

I ordered my first two 'extra' batteries from Adorama... Ricoh-branded $44.95 each! So if these new 2 extras work fine, they're a bargain WITH wall and car charger. I ordered through Kendall's link to Amazon dealer but I also gave the direct website above.

Full description is KIT-BTR-BH125C-LCH-S005-002 "Wasabi Power Battery and Charger Kit for Ricoh DB-65 and Ricoh...... [all the various cameras] The Sigma DP2Merrill uses the same DB-65 as the Ricoh-branded (the Adorama ones) plus these new 2 fit fine. I'll check their photo count this weekend.

Even though I was the one that put up that link, I ended up ordering this instead:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002OTF0PK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

I don't know quite why I ordered something different, and certainly would not have if I'd noticed the link you used included two batteries!

Mine is charging a Sigma battery now, but I think it will work... I just wanted to be able to make sure I could charge enough batteries in the evening during a trip.

My adaptor also comes with a cigarette lighter adaptor (what I really wanted) and an EU adaptor... in fact if you look at the images the actual charger I got looks almost totally like yours, just with different branding and a slight change in side markings. I would bet inside they are identical - only like you say you got two batteries with yours.

Thanks Sandy.

I didn't have the chance to take any photos yesterday, but today I hope we'll go to a local lake (Lake Accotink in Springfield VA) if the weather holds. We had lovely, puffy clouds yesterday, but I missed them, visiting indoors instead.... today the sky looks overcast white.

I'm reading a book about photography in the Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park. Two things I've learned in the first chapter... use a polarizer in overcast weather. It cuts through the 'haze' which is actually water droplets in the air... remember this is the humid eastern US! Second recommendation on mountain view scenery, a metering on green grass in open sunshine usually yields a good reading. Or in the forest, underlying forest debris.

Hi, I ordered the Wasabi batteries (without charger) a few weeks ago from Blue Nook through Amazon and those batteries did NOT fit! I talked extensively to the main person @ Blue Nook. Although my batteries were not labelled Wasabi he assured me that they all came from the identical source and that if these did not fit none of them would and that ALL of the batteries are identical, I tried explaining what to look for on the battery - where it was catching when trying to place it. So, it appears that I was given incorrect information from Blue Nook and as we all know there is variation in the battery case design/size. So it's great that yours fit the DP2M but I think there is no guarantee that others will, and that needs to be kept in mind when ordering. I had paid extra for quicker shipping as I wanted to have them for a trip - so I lost out on the shipping fees to me and also the return shipping fees.

Strange.... they could have batteries from different sources? Both I received definitely insert in the DP2Merrill just like the Sigma ones. The batteries from BlueNook say, on one side,
BTR-BH125C-JWP
3.6V 1400mAh
Premium Cells from Japan
Replaces: IA-BH125C, DB-65
Rechargeable Li-ion
(symbol) Wasabi Power

other side:
CAUTION: Do not expose
to high temperature,
disassemble,or short circuit.
CE RoHS

I took 32 RAW+JPEG at Lake Accotink Park trail and the battery still shows 'full' charge! That's probably better than ... or at least comparable to... the Sigma batteries on which my best day was 113 RAW+JPEG on 2 batteries.

I tried today to turn the camera off promptly after a shot, but sometimes forgot. Full screen features, ie brightness, review. I'll see how long this Wasabi battery lasts and post again.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for the followup - I only know that he said he would go in the warehouse and try to see if there were diff. shapes/sizes and get back to me, which he never did, not surprisingly. Maybe I'll be brave (or stupid) and try again w/ these specific #'s, esp. if they qualify for prime shipping now that I am a member.
