For all of those whining about the introduction of the NEX6, it is nice and has its place. But Sony is electronics, not camera design. Compare the kit lenses:

1. Sony 16-50mm pros

A little faster (1/2 f stop?) than the Olympus.

2. Olympus 12-50mm pros

Longer telephoto range (100mm > 75mm equivalent)

Weather proof

Macro

IBIS allows lower shutter speeds

And if past judgement is guide, it will have better IQ as well.

Even the mighty Zuiko 24mm f1.8 NEX lens is not sharp wide open like the better Zuikos or the Panaleicas. m43rds has at least a 1 stop advantage due to better lenses.

To be fair, the only 2 lenses where I think Sony went right( and I really regretted giving up) were the 85mm f2.8 and 35mm f1.8 primes. They were really cheap and pretty decent, but not Zuiko good I mght add. But they won't work on NEX without an adapter.

I suppose you meant the Zeiss f1.8 (not Zuiko?), and if you did you probably haven't used it. It's tack sharp wide open and gives the most pleasant bokeh.

The Alpha mount 24mm Zeiss was tack sharp in the center wide open, but not in the corners. Tests suggested the situation with the one designed for the NEX mount one was not as good as that for the Alpha mount. The Zeiss is a great lens, but overpriced for what you get.

Why ? They're two different beasts. The new Sony is similar to the Panasonic pancake.
Ok, I assume you mean kit lens. But then it still means that the glass is not that good, not bad but nothing to call home about. I am just of the opinion that Sony mirrorless is not a threat to the market share of m43rds and may even help by sparking interest in smaller systems, growing the market.

They won't be able to physically. On the larger size of the APS-C sensor a 12-75mm weather-sealed, quality IQ zoom lens would be hard to design and a heavy beast that would defeat the purpose of NEX.
wow the olympus 12-50mm kit lens is awesome, with its weather-sealing, macro, FL, aperture, and size. I hope sony won't ever try designing anything like that :)
