No Touchscreen on NEX 6 ...

I think we have to wait to confirm

A few official sites and a photographer who has hands on on nex said there is touch screen
Dpreview said it does not have
And no sign of touch screen in official video/official intro in sony's blog

I hope it just missing the key touch interface
But
Touch AF / etc are still there
What I pasted above on Amazon was supplied directly from Sony:

Advanced Control Dial

Mode control dial and Quick Navi assure quick an intuitive operation comparable to DSLR cameras Control dial, Fn (function) button and touch screen (including touch shutter function) combine to greatly facilitate operation and speed getting the shot.

Includes touch shutter, but is a touch screen. It's there or Sony wouldn't be promoting it in the specifications they provide to Amazon and B&H, etc.

I've already supplied information from Sony noting a touch interface.

It has a touch interface, which includes touch shutter -- an upgrade over the 5N touch interface, for example.

Look what you've done wll. :P

From what has been posted, I'm not going to buy until I get more definitive information.

As a person who uses the 5N touchscreen for inspecting images after a shot (by tapping the preview to load it and dragging to view different points), I'd surely miss having that feature. I use touchscreen for other things, too, like indicating a focus point.

So, until I get some definitive info on just what kind of "touch" is available, I will be holding off on my decision.

In conjunction with a lack of information, there is the unanswered lens compatibility problem with the new hybrid focusing system. Not very hyped about a better focusing system only to find out my existing $800 18-200 (and other lenses) lens won't be able to use it. Unless I have missed it somewhere, there is no definitive info on whether those older lenses will ever be able to use it.

So, as of now, it's a waste of money for me.

Yes, that's true. However, the Nex cameras with a touchscreen have an option to disable touch functions if desired.

It's highly unlikely that any manufacturer would advertise a camera with a feature that it actually doesn't have. dpreview has confused the issue for everyone. Apps without touchscreen don't make any sense at all.

I've had a 5n for a year and I can honestly say I've never ever used the touch screen in anger, though it has made me angry when it thinks my nose touching the damn screen is where I want to focus...
I'd have the more compact lens and EVF any day.

In fact this Nex6 is pretty much my perfect camera right now; time to think of some excuses to the wife of why I need to sell the 5n and have the 6 for Christmas. :)
How big of a deal is that for you guys and do you think Sony will have an app to have this feature in the NEX 6 if you want it ?

Those are my thoughts exactly, I can't imagine Sony on an App induced camera not having a touch screen. I would like to know for sure ?

I use the touch screen all the time on my 5n when I take a series of pictures for focus stacking.

dpreview did a pretty thorough preview of this camera, and for them not to find a touchscreen probably means the NEX 6 does not have one.

Their previews/reviews are pretty darn good and I don't think they would make a mistake like telling folks the NEX 6 does not have a touch screen if it did .... what a bummer for sure !

Sure they could be mistaken. If they had the camera for a short time, and if the touchscreen function was turned off, they might not have realized that the touchscreen function exists.

I very much hope you are correct !

Another possibility is that it is disabled in the preproduction firmware.

But Sony UK sports two pictures of a Sony NEX-6 with LCD tilted (second and fourth picture on this page: http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/nex-compact-system-camera/range/nex-6 ), and states:
"For even more control and possibilities, there’s a tiltable LCD touch screen."

Hope it is true (since I am interested myself, especially for my legacy lenses which are collecting a good amount of dust)?

Ciao!
