Can anyone suggest a nice camera bag? Messenger type if possible.

Thanks! I had been using the pouch that came with my Panny for both that lens and the Oly 45, since one or the other is usually on my PEN. But I lost the pouch while on vacation a couple of weeks ago. :(

Billingham Hadley Pro works great, looks good, fits Ipad, several lenses, camera body, my Canon S95, EM5 grip, extra batteries, charger, and small miscellany. Several good color options. A little expensive, but it's an investment.

Wow guys, you all posted some really great looking bags! Thank you!

I think I'm gonna go with the Domke bag, as it's more of the style I was looking for.

You guys rock!!!!

I'll throw mine in the mix. I purchased a Tenba Mini Messenger Bag for my OM-D w/HLD-6, 25mm, 12-35, and 40-150. I also keep a 600R in the bag, 2 filter pouches (when needed), and accessories. There's room for another lens (or 2). It's comfortable on the shoulder and looks very well made. I picked up the Orange one. :)

I also have an Adorama Slinger bag ( http://www.adorama.com/GBSLBK.html ) that I used to use with my E-1 when I wanted to travel very compact. I actually forgot I had that bag until recently and that would also do a good job of holding the gear. Maybe not as much, but close.

At least you didn't lose the lens! It's a great little pouch. I'm not certain how it would work for the 45, but it is perfect for the 20mm.

My name is Dave. I am a bagaholic. Seriously, I have bought too many.

Two extremes.
1. Shooter's Bags
2. Shipping Crates

Most bags fall somewhere in between.

Do you want something small, light and easy to shoot from? Domkes fall in this line, and have little or no padding depending on the bag you buy.

Billingham bags also fall in this category. They are waterproof, I understand, and have some padding. Not too much! (I live in Canada where Think Tank are overpriced. So are Domke. Billingham's are actually less costly for me to buy.

LowePro and Think Tank make incredible bags. I have had 5 or so Think Tank bags. I had a Retro10 for a month or so; took it on a vacation and traded it away, because it didn't work the way I shoot. (Hated the rain cover. Reluctant to carry the bag in case I had to put the rain cover on, and stop shooting.)

Back to you. I have found the Billingham Hadley Pro to be an exceptional bag. I added one of their strap-pads to mine.
I also have a Billingham Hadley Digital when I want to carry a lighter load.

My Hadley Pro is a wonderfully convenient bag to carry and work out of. (also will carry my d300s with a reasonable zoom mounted, and another carried, with a flash.)

I like the Billingham "Hadley Small" for my m43 system. Slim and easy to carry. For a bit more gear, the Hadley Pro can't be beat. And ... they are storm proof!

Hey guys, I just purchased a GX1 which should arrive in a few days. I already ordered a nice leather case, and wrist strap for it. Only thing I can't find is a nice bag to carry the camera, and maybe 2-3 lenses, along with a few minor things. I prefer a messenger, but not in leather. I'd like to get a nice fabric one if possible.

I did check out the Crumpler bags, but didn't see anything I liked or color combinations they offer. If anyone can lead me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

The Beard
Event messenger 100, I get an nx11, 16mm, 20mm, 30mm and either my 50-200 or my 85mm f1.4, also in there is a flash (sef20a) spare battery, mini tripod, remote release, 4 filters for the pancakes, 3x spare sdhc and a vc ovf. That leaves the external side and rear pockets for my iPhone, wallet and car keys. Not m43 gear but should give some indication, you should be able to get a little bit more m43 stuff in one.

An old thread, but who knows who might still read it. I did. I can highly recommend the Domke F-5XB. Personally I prefer the waxed canvas RuggedWear version, but there are other versions too. If your budget allows it, the Ona Bowery Field Tan is an excellent choice. The treated canvas Ona bag is beautifully made of high quality materials and it looks and feels absolutely great. Definitely a few steps up from the Domke bag. I you like to travel light (and cheap), the Crumpler Light Delight 2500 is really great. Very, very, very light but well made. There's room for your camera with a compact prime lens attached, another compact prime lens and some accessories. Finally, I can recommend the LowePro Photo Traveler 150. Ideal for trips where you want to carry a lot of stuff like a tablet computer, lots of lenses, two camera bodies, flashes etc. It's a compact lightweight and surprisingly roomy little backpack.

Take a look at the Billingham line. The bags are beautiful and pretty much in destructible. One thing to consider on the Billinghams is the "grab" handle. I have two without the handle and one with...the one 'with' gets to go out more often. Fairly expensive, but they are an investment. If you want to spend more, then look at the Fogg line.

Cocotte offers a number of sizes and colors.

I own two (Alfredo and Fred sizes), and they are well thought, well designed, well built. They are made to last. The quality is exceptionnal. And they are made right here in North America!
