Looking for a small compact with video for wedding (? rx-100)

Hi,

I'm going to Mexico next month for a wedding and would like to take a camera with me.

I do have a cannon 50D but don't want the bulk and an Iphone 4s but want a better quality camera.

Looking around the RX100 seems to be getting very good reviews but whats the video like?
Does anyone have any links to videos they have shot with it?
Also the zoom, do you have links to a standard shot and zoomed?

Also what are your views, is it as good as they make out or should I look at something else?

In my opinion the video is outstanding. You can zoom during the video and as well as full auto, you can set the mode of the video such as Aperature or Shutter priority and change the respective settings on the fly using the lens ring (to accomodate lighting changes). You can also take stills during the video without interruption of the video itself. I only have test videos and don't have any examples that I'm willing to post. Fast motion, dimly lit indoor locations, image stabilization...it's all good.

Videos also have focus peaking... this is an excellent stills camera with very good video...if you just want video then a dedicated video camera might be better, but if you want both still and video the RX100 is great

One warning on long video shots over about 10 minutes, there have been reports of overheating...something you should research....there is also some telephoto zoom noise on the sound...hard to avoid...

I do hear the zoom with headphones and I can also hear a click when taking stills. The microphone is very sensitive, I can hear myself breathe in the videos. Wind setting might make it a little less sensitive.

The only thing I would prefer is if it had a better zoom.

Yes the Sony hx20v, Hx10v or the Hx9v all will do video as good as the Rx100 but with a lot more zooom!
