Hayes Island.....My attempt.

Hi Merle,
I see your having fun with Hayes Island :)

Are you hooked yet? hehehe! I did an image and thought hmmmmm this doesn't look so good, so I tried a different image and thought wow!

Some things this technique does nothing for, and others it really transforms them....thank you for sharing your image... Skippy (Australia)

Hi Lisa,

Flowers come up really nice with that technique....it's just one of those things it looks okay for some things but not for others.

Here's my attempt. I have been dying to find something to give
this still life some punch and the "hayes island technique" might
just have done the trick :-)

Thanks Skippy! I really am grateful to you and everyone else on this forum that I have learned so much from :-D. Wish I could apply all this to a degree. Maybe we should start issuing diplomas from "STF University" ;-).

That's quite a castle. Your backyard?

No, my brother-in-law. He gets my vote for dad of the year. He has 3 boys. Ages 6,4,and 2. He built them this castle after moving this summer into a new house. They used to have a sweet treehouse with a zip line in the old house that he built as well. Then every year he puts an 80ft ice hockey rink in the backyard so they can practice anytime they want.

Lisa:

That looks really nice! I really love the vibrancy of all the colors and the mix of flowers. I can't wait for spring and summer.

I played around with this effect a couple weeks ago and have posted some of my better results. This effect is really good for shots that are not quite sharp--or even in my case, not sharp at all. teehee

I have been intrigued by all the images using this effect here lately. I diddled around a bit with some pics I had at hand—not easy to get all the variables to click into place.

Reminds me of the German Enigma code machine from WWII. Plug int he same numbers and out comes a different result.

I wanted to post this one because the faces gave me fits. If the effect was heavy enough on the rest of the pic, the faces were mere blotches (OK int he Hayes Island crowd scene, but here they were a focal point.)

Finally had to select them out and do the effects twice for each layer. I left out the canvas texture just for this example.
