Anyone know why I can't see CF card when in card reader. My normal workflow is to put card in reader, copy to raid, then import to Lighrtoom. This always worked with D2X and D300, but with D800 card, it doesn't show up. Mac OS 10.6.8

Thanks

Using a different card than usual? I recently had to change readers because although it could handle that particular type of card it just wouldn't read it worth a damn. Brought back to the store and put it on a different computer and they had the same problem as well. I am using 10.6.8 as well.

Are you right up to date with the Apple updates, I seem to recall not long ago there was an update for the OS that covered some of the more recently released cameras.

I have just bought a new MBP which now does not have the express card slot so I had to look for a regular card reader, I bought a Sandisk universal USB 3 reader, it takes all the regular cards and having read your posts above I was keen to try it, I can report that it reads my d800 CF cards without any issues, shows up in Finder and on desktop as another drive.

this is a new card, but I tried formatting the same 8gb card I use in my d300, it wouldn't show up when formatted in d800.

LR4, but this is an issue with the card not showing up on the desktop, normally they show up as any other external hard disk when used in a card reader.

At the UK's largest high St photo retailer it was £29.99 in the catalogue, when I got to the till it came up as £39.99, questioning the difference I was told read the small print, we can change the prices as we feel like ! leaving me with no alternative to use with my on that day purchased r MBP I had to stump up the extra.

Card is working now, shows up fine on desktop, I did nothing to system, but did re-format card again. Beats me!

I've had a similar problems after unmounting/ejecting a CF card for the D800E and then trying to mount it later. Using a different card reader solved the problem. Restarting the Mac also solved the problem.
