AE Bracketing on D5100 sucks for HDR?

Can it be true, that the D5100 not is able to make a proper HDR photo using AE bracketing and not the build in HDR function?

What i want to do is to take 0, -2 and +2 using self timer not to shake the camera while shooting. But when i use the self timer function instead of continues, the camera takes 0 AE then waits three seconds to take -2 and the again three seconds to take +2. The three second delay between each photo in many cases makes the pictures useless for HDR because the object has moved slightly.

Is there any setting that can make the camera take the three shots without the stupid delay?

Would a wireless remote for this function be a solution?
