Received the lens this morning, threw it on, stepped outside, and shot a street sign in front of the house maybe 50' away. Hand-held, OIS on, fully-auto everything. F5.6, 1/400. ISO 200. This is a 100% crop completely unprocessed, straight out of the camera (20MP, JPG ultrafine). I'm impressed.

Another one maybe 100 yards away. Same settings and shooting method.

The edges and corners, of course, aren't as sharp, but I'm still impressed for a fully-auto, image-stabilized long zoom that cost me $206 new!!!!!!!!!!!

Over the years I've had several Canon DSLR's and have had/tested alot of consumer tele-zooms from Canon, Tamron and Sigma (18-200, 28-300, 50-200, 70-300 etc...)

Now I have the 50-200 from Samsung and I honestly must say this is by far the sharpest I have ever had !

Up until 135mm this thing is as sharp as prime lenses, and past 135mm this lens is stil very, very good and that for 150 euro's !! (transport included)

The only downside is that it doesn't balance out well with my NX200 ;-)

100% crop, 130mm, wide open

Hi,

Where did you get this lens for 150 euro? was this a new price?

cheers

Thanks Jeffrey and Scalll for the samples. The 50-200 reviews on B&H are generally positive. One guy claims autofocus is slow. The DCresource.com review says autofocus with the 18-55 lens is above average, .1-.4 second at wide angle, .3-.7 at telephoto. They did not measure the 50-200.

By the way, in the US yesterday, Samsung was including the 50-200 for free with the NX1000 + 30-50 kit.

I think the 50-200 lens is a huge value. The thing is tack sharp and a dream to use. I have no regrets about owning one.

Thanks for the link, but that is the Xenon range of lens they have on offer not the NX and I cant seem to find the ois nx lens on their site.

just checked again, the lens changes type when the English page is selected!

thanks

I've noticed yhe Xenon-sample-pic too, but the description & product n° is that of the NX-lens...
They probably just put the wrong pic in there...

So, this was the non iFn version right? do you know if there is any difference in IQ between the two versions?

Tom

From what I've read there should be no difference in IQ between the 2 versions...

Thanks, my iFn version should arrive today! bought from the last link you gave me, thanks again.
