1Dx V D4 - a good read

Andy Rouse makes his living by getting the shot and he is thoroughly unimpressed with the d4, but he does like the 1dx. :)
He didn't say anything about being unimpressed with the d4. He certainly made no suggestion he would switch.

I guess he figures he doesn't want to have to carry a screw driver to fix the memory card door every time it refuses to close : )
He does in other posts, he's been quite critical of the d4. And at the end of the 1dx review he says that this presents him with a problem. Why would it be a problem if he likes the d4 so much? You should read some of the other posts on his blog. :)

Sorry I was talking about Andy Rouse here.
I was talking about a guy who owns both and contradicts what Andy Rouse has to say, so he's a better authority.

Andy Rouse said nothing about switching to Canon.
I dont know who that guy is but I do know who Andy Rouse is, and you are correct he didn't say he was switching but the possibility is implied in the last sentence. :)

No, he'd bought both. He chose to keep the one he preferred.

Matt actually still has both systems. He's still bothered mainly by the colour from the Nikon, and impressed mainly with the sharpness from the Canon. He's been referring to the 1DX shutter as a "Hair Trigger", sometimes ready before he is.
3. After the tests, the Nikon guy made the decision to switch to Canon.
No, he'd already bought the Canon. The head to head tests was a piece of theater.

So you would know if the color on the screen has been fixed with firmware, as has been claimed. Has it?

The green cast on the LCD has NOT been fixed via firmware. Believe me, everybody and their uncle has contacted us, referring to the latest firmware for the D4. The problem is that is only refers to a correction in the aRGB gamut of the LCD, and does not fix the green colour.

Or possibly not. As another commenter here noted, there's a lot more to consider than just a $6k + camera bosy. Rouse probably has $40k in glass to consider, so switching could mean a very constly excercise for a very marginal return.

I have - plenty of praise heaped on the D4.

"There is no doubt in my mind that the D4 AF system lives up to all the hype. It performed amazingly well in low light and sudden situations, able to lock on with distracting backgrounds"

and...

"For me the AF system was the key to the D4 and I am chuffed that it is working like this. So much so that I have ordered a second D4 so that I can have the same system that I use with the D3s. "

True but he's done it before he used to be a Canon guy, I suspect Canon may be trying to tempt him to switch back. :)

So is he going to sell the Nikon system?

That was a long time ago and the reason for the switch was the disasterous 1DIII. The D4 is nothing like the 1DIII fiasco.

Cool :) no doubt the d4 is a very good camera, but it seems to have some bugs to work out according to Andy Rouse.

I don't know he does praise the d4 for some things but he also complains about the problems. He says he dosent want to have to worry about the camera he just wants to take pictures. :)

It would seem so. It's clear enough that Nikon didn't get everything right with the D4 - and the sad thing is that they're playing the same stupid game that Canon did with the iDIII, y denying those problems exist.

That goes for everyone.

The issues with the D4 started appearing after some time after it was released. Maybe the delays with the 1DX were due to lessons learned from the 1DIII disaster.
