He may be good at photography, but that is all the more reason he should keep quiet about equipment he has little experience using. It's ok to say, as some do, I'm a XXX fanboy and have little interest in other brands. He goes way beyond that.
Ken Rockwell is not any sort of "professional photographer" (excellent or otherwise). By his own definition, he is an amateur. He does not make > 50% of his income selling photos. In fact, he doesn't even come close to 50%. He makes far more income from his website, where he shamelessly begs for cash at the bottom of every page.
