The staff in camera stores must have their pictures taken more than most models. I know I always take pictures of them when I'm checking out a new camera, and they don't seem to mind. This is Chee, who works at Aden Camera in Pacifica Mall in Toronto. I didn't actually buy the RX100 from him--I had a trade-in, and Aden doesn't do trade-ins--but I went to see Chee to get an LCD protector, which he's an expert at installing just right, and to chat about cameras. I think Chee's expression is great, and the sharpness from the RX100 is excellent. The first photo is the full image resized; below that is a portrait aspect ratio crop of the same photo.

Poor Chee......

If the salesman is a lady with all her facial defects expressed to 7 billions people in the world, without consent,......she would definitely kill you~!

you use these settings :

Contrast {0xA408} = soft (1)
Saturation {0xA409} = low (1)
Sharpness {0xA40A} = soft (1)

did you do any processing in CS ?

All my Post Processing is done with Capture NX2

My preference would be to shoot RAW and process in ACR, but since this software doesn't support RX100 RAW files yet, my compromise is to shoot jpeg and open in Camera Raw in ACR. I find the RX100 default image settings to be a bit too much on the vivid side, and I'd rather set these myself. So, yes, I have in-camera Contrast, Saturation, and Sharpness turned down one notch. This photo needed very little in the way of processing. I opened it in Camera Raw, set Clarity at +3, Vibrance +9, Highlights -1. I then opened the file in CS6, resized, and used Smart Sharpen radius 0.3 pixel, amount 30%. That's it!

so cool. i bought mine from judy, she works with chee on weekdays there.

I was just there this afternoon :) Looks like I had to add my own version. I'm from the Canon camp, so I had to choose my background accordingly. Chee is separated nicely from the background.. It's been awhile since I've seen this kind of a DoF from something that fits in a pocket that doesn't need a lens cap :)

Wow! Talk about your small world! Chee is such a nice man, and it shows in his face.
