For the most part I have stayed at the same location as a classroom to learn the 150. Saturday I ventured to one of local causeways and enjoyed a great variety of birds.

I also returned to a park to try to find the Night Heron I had posted earlier. The bird is very elusive and when I did find him he was too hidden to get a shot. Today I got lucky and found him hidden in a cypress. He was low enough that that I was able to get one little window to focus on hie eye. AF was not working with the dense vegetation so I went manual. First time for that and it was fun. Great birds, great camera and learned a lot. Hope you enjoy.
Peace

You and the FZ150 cinched it with the heron shot. Good for you!

Are you ready to make someone's day a little brighter?

Nice work, Greg. I think you've come a long way since you first started posting here. I assume no polarizer?

Hi Greg,
Nice photos.
How does you feel about the photo quality of ISO 100/200 of FZ150?
Do you have any DSLR to compared with?
If ISO 200 of FZ150 can provide similar photo quality to APS-C DSLR @ ISO 1600,
I will buy the upcoming FZ200.
Pls share.

Thank you Vickie! It was the only photo from that park. It is really amazing how you can walk around in the silence and just sense that the bird is there. You have to be present. I have been enjoying your flickr images.

Thanks for the kind words Hans. Guess what? I did have the polarizer on for the Oystercatcher. I had moved to the north side of the causeway and was trying to shoot some stone crabs in the water, hand held, bad focus. When I saw the Oystercatcher through the mangroves I put the E17ED on and just left the polarizer on. I don't know Hans, there is just a certain quality to the image. Shutter speed wasn't bad.

Thank you Faith.

Faith there are many folks on this forum that are much more qualified than I to answer your question. I don't have any DSLR experience to compare. I do know that I like to shoot at ISO 100 and I like the results I get with the 150. You can see other images in my gallery. I am not I sure I understand the logic or reason for comparing a DSLR at 1600 to the smaller sensor at 100/200. The FZ200 seems appealing. When I see images posted on this forum by the folks here that will have a FZ200, then I will form an opinion on it's performance. Good luck!

Beautiful birds, beautiful shots! For me, the Black Skimmer and the Black Heron are outstanding.

With regard to the questions about image quality, I cannot understand why anyone is bothered about obtaining better than your shots here. Yes, the IQ is great, better than would be expected from a superzoom plus teleconverter but what makes these so good is the picture quality.

Thanks Ken.

I am thrilled with the results of this camera. I think for some, camera equipment is about the equipment upgrade solving image issues. Kind of like a sailboat, whatever you get is a compromise.

That last one is a cracker...topjob.

Greg,
Really like that last one.

BTW, if you choose manual mode, you can keep tapping the focus button until the camera focuses on the proper subject. I find that less frustrating than trying to adjust the focus with the wheel.
