For this pano I used the SD14 and 50mm macro and processed it in Kolor Autopano Pro 2.6.4.

It presented an interesting problem. It was taken from a bridge between Steamtown and the Steamtown Mall, and I was some distance to the right of the first line of trains. I eventually was able to select 12 pictures used to create this pano, though other combinations of pictures produced distortions I could not remove even using different “vanishing points.” Clearly for this type of pano it is best to center yourself on the subject if that is possible.

While I was using the SD14 and 50mm macro to shoot pictures for the pano, Nancy used the SD10 and 70mm macro to get the local Excursion train and several detail shots:

Very nice train photos. I'm guessing your pano is 2 rows?

And Nancy - I always love your detail shots - flowers to trains, you always find some interesting perspective to shoot.

Thanks. It is only now I have the time and strength to resume making these panos. I find them wonderful since they free me from the limits of indivdual lens. I love WA shots but even my 14mm is not as wide as a pano can go, and with less distortion.
I do hope you have time to go back to them.

You seem to be getting on pretty well with that pano programme Pete. Must admit I did try (for a specific purpose) several pano progs for some interiors but never did get around the curved line syndrome so gave it up as a bad job. Also, could not really get myself into the mood for spending lots of time doing lots of experimenting to learn things a bit better.

At least the nice selection proves that neither you nor Nancy are sitting watching TV all day long! :-P

Thanks Brian. Yes, they do take time. This program takes less time then the early ones I learned the first time I played with panos years ago now. But it is a little pricey, ($125US without VAT). And even using this program I still had to play with this pano to get the right set of pictures that would give me a pano with decent proportions. As I said, I am again learning to do them since I love WA shots beyond what WA lens can give me and this is one way to get them. I had mentioned panos on a thread in which people where complaining about the "fact" that there are no WA lens good enough for the SD1 series, and that got me remembering how much fun I had with them earlier so I decided to play with them again.

Since Nancy likes details and close-ups she does not have to follow me on this particular project, which is good, since she does very well with her approach to gathering light.
