Sony has always made sense as the manufacturer, both with regards to performance and with regards to the need to keep it secret. If this is reported correctly, I wonder what made Olympus reveal it now. Perhaps a deal between the two is on the horizon?

Saw this earlier. Would definitely explain the dynamic range and noise performance. I remember several people mentioning that it was interesting how similar noise patterns seemed to the 5N.

This so great, finally the "E-M5 sensor puzzle" is solved, I can see now why the E-M5 can produce such an imposing results!. It's simply not a "Panasonic miracle".

Bravo Olympus.

i feel ripped off, my OMD does not produce those beautiful orange skintones that sony so beautifully does...shall i ask for a refund? :)

Now lets see if Sony has enough sense to borrow the IBIS from Olympus...
They (or rather their camera division) invented it. So Olympus is the borrower in this case.
You mean they acquired it from Minolta.
You mean they acquired Minolta! :p

weird, after so much avoidance and defensiveness from Olympus about the manufacturer, the CEO in an interview gives basically a "lol Sony did it."

Haha... I'll buy it from you.

Now the best sensors are in the m4/3 and maybe 4/3 world. Olympus finally did it! To switch from Panasonic sensor was a long time wish from many Olympus users. Now, it's a reality, great :-)
and nearly all major reviewers were wrong ;-)

Yes... a Sony sensor that permits Olympus a full control.

Well, well, well !!. Very interesting in that case. A GH3 could be interesting to see what Panasonic does now. Could be a tall order and looking forward to it. Times for m4/3 are good. :)

All the best.

Worry about the image that comes out of the box, rather than the box itself.

God loves the noise just as much as the signal.

Interesting news (and good news if correct!) I just replied to the other thread on this subject though - how come, if the sensor is the same or very similar to that used in the NEX series, base ISO on the EM5 is 200 yet on the NEX series it's ISO50.

Wonder if we will ever get a lower base ISO than 160/200 on new M4/3 cams?
