New lense rumors interesting

Seems like a heck of a lot of overlap.
Mu-43.com predicts an Oly 12-60 high grade 2.8-4.0 and a 25 1.8 available Q4.

That would complete MY perfect system:

OMD with Oly 9-18, 12, 12-60, 25, 45, and 75 with one flash. Add extra batteries, some filters and we are still under 5 lbs. all goes in a small case and an ultralight monopod, with L bracket do not add much weight or bulk.

shoot at night f2.8 and 1/30 and iso will almost always be at 3200 or below.

good times these are.

... Next I think it would be great to see something like a 100/2 and maybe a 150/2.8. Would either lens be tiny...no, but they don't have to be huge either.
My thoughts exactly; a 150/2.8 or even 3.5 would be a great addition. At 150 mm -with a 300 mm field of view- I am not looking for minimal DOF, I am usually fighting to get more in focus.

I furthermore believe a slight re-thinking of lens design might be needed. With the shorter flange distance of mirror-less, we now slowly see more designs making use of that for wide angle, and we see the return of primes for size/weight's sake. It pulled me into M43 to begin with.

In the longer focal ranges the size/weight gains of a smaller sensor are less pronounced. But a 150/2.8 or 3.5 might be a lot lighter then a zoom (at pretty much the same size). Or a renewed look at the possibilities of tele-group lenses in longer focal length might give us smaller long primes (at a weight penalty).

Choice is a great good...

Yeah, personally for me an awesome wildlife lens would be something like a 250mm f/4 lens plus a 1.4x teleconverter. That would be 500mm equivelent that can be stretched to 700mm equivelent...with an f/4 speed at 500mm EFL or f/5.6 at 700 EFL. The overall size/weight around the same as a 300mm f/4.5.

How stinking easy would that be to carry around hiking and such forth if looking for wildlife photos? I wouldn't even think twice about throwing that in a bag for something like hiking around Yellow Stone.

Then I would be interested...

As it is, I already own the 20mm 1.7 pancake, so for size, weight and speed, I'm already covered. As for the extra 5mm...would be nice but at this point (already owning the 20mm), I rather get the PL 25mm 1.4 to get the extra on speed, and probably superior optical qualities (considering the rumored lens is supposedly cheap).

Now the rumored 12-60 2.8-4 would be nice. I would probably want the Panny 12-35mm but it's just too expensive for me right now. Course at the rumored ~$800, this wouldn't be cheap as well but it is significantly cheaper than the Panny. Then again, I wonder how small/large it would be. The Panny 12-35mm is pretty small. I hope the new lens is not as large as the Oly kit lens for the OMD...If it is, unless it's optically better than the 12-35mm, I think I would rather save up for the Panny...

Whatever the case, guess we'll just have to wait and see.
