F770 EXR back yard shots

Here's mine taken last year with the f505, fr wide to full optical zoom to full digital zoom.

here are a couple of shots pushing the cam to its farthest reach @ 60X zoomed

You can see the weird atmospheric stuff going on in the guy shot ..that gives it a painted look- fun stuff if the image had some actual interest which this does not.

The girls on the beach shot shows that sometimes subjects not requiring great detail can be shot at this extreme. Here the image is not so great and hit the bin, but you can see the potential at this extreme end for some different kinds of compo and shots ..
Notice the color . It is SOOC from what I recall..

Great shots, you are showing off what the camera is capable of, even without resorting to RAW

I agree with everyone else who posted here.

Is there any benefit in adjusting the LCD screen brightness down, like we used to with the earlier F series cameras?

Hi there!

I thought turning the screen down helped at first then ..well then ..it appeared it really didn't. I presently run around with brightness set to zero and sunlight mode on.

I should mention just for everyone's info who might be at all interested in this cam.

I have shot 3 shot videos with it. I set the cam on wide angle and shot away. No zooming cuzz I didn't want the klicks and noise of the zoom in the vid.

The results I thought were more than acceptable! I was actually quite surprised how good the sound was!! I will see if I can find a way to show what I shot.

Generally the F770 is a point and shoot that does what its supposed to and maybe a bit more.I have zero clue if there are better options out there..but for the money ..the F770 is basically an honest value effort by Fuji- AND it actually looks and feels kindah cool to boot!!! Mine is Johnny Cash black..lol

good talking to you as always

Think I might dangerously proffer a last judgement/comment on the F770EXR.
In looking at P510, FZ150, HS20,30,10, Sony 100,200 and even the X-S1 shots,

I'd have to say ..in my extremely humble and open to be proven wrong opinion, the F770EXR re IQ would not be embarrassed by any of those. I just went shooting with a friend who has a X-S1. We shot all the same stuff. The F770..compared and actually seemed an eensy bit better in some shots (I am biased??) as we looked through them on his computer later. Not a bad showing for a p&s.

I have been thinking that the F770 shots that have been posted usually look better to me than the either the HS20/30 or the XS1. With the F770's massive zoom range, lower price and compact size, this makes it the pick of the litter I reckon.

The West Coast lighting seems to favour the F770 and the shots you have taken in the backyard are superb. The more I use mine, the more I like it.

Well I dunno about this west coast light bro..I find this cam loves the light and I do better if there is lots to work with given that I like shooting at base ISO . I shot 130 plus shots yesterday under darkening skys and struggled somewhat.

Glad you are liking your cam!! Its kindah cool to beable to have such a long reach and macro all stuck in a pocketable package !

thanks Tim for your comments. I generally agree..
Even I don't agree with everything I say. :)

With my 18x S9100 returned for service yesterday (hopefully a warranty fix), I can't help but wonder about how the long end of your 20x 770 is. Not recalling any particular mention of it.

Much as I enjoy the 9100, I have found the longer FL's a bit of a letdown. Toward the end of the zoom, the results get blurry -- as if the IS can't handle it. I'm okay out to about 14-15x (I haven't checked exactly, but think that's about right).

Which makes me wonder how the 770 is at the further reaches. And, for that matter, the F600. Why those two cams? If Nikon won't repair the 9100 under warranty and wants a significant repair fee, depending on the amount I may just walk away. The 600 would be the least costly replacement, though lacking the (usable?) reach of the 770.

Meanwhile, hoping for the best but preparing for the worst, I've finally persuaded my daughter to return the like-new F20 I gave her when the first one I gave her broke (her ideas of a camera is what's in her cell phone). I really loved that little bugger...and now I'll have it back. Wish I could stick that sensor into the 9100 and subtract a couple MP's.

Hi- the girls on the beach shot is actually what many low end cameras produce at their normal setting...

I too like the paint effect of the guy, would never expect a photo at full zoom to be perfect from this cam - but surprised at that girl shot. Thanks for sharing.Oh- the flowershots are great-this camera seems to be of good quality.
:)

hey Tim I will see if I can shoot a series at the long end so you can see how it does. Actually it is better at the long end than wide angle IMHO.

Hope ya have fun re acquainting yourself with the FZ 20 ..That was a great series of cams - the 30 and the 50 that followed. I am toying with getting myself another Oly C8080!!

glad you liked the stuff. The strengths of the cam seem to lie at the long and short end! The super long digital zoom is toyish stuff IQ wise ..but kindah fun so useful to me at times .

Great!

Actually, it's the Fuji F20 -- a 6 MP subcompact with a 1/1.17" CCD sensor, 36-108 FL F2.8-5/0 lens. Not very impressive compared to some of today's stats, but, oooh, the results.

What the hell is it about the C8080? I've been hearing about it forever, but never bothered to even look. Now, of course, I will. Hmmmm: USB 1.0, xD or Compact Flash. Nice fast lens. Wonder what they go for these days?

they are still holding their value ..but be warned ..the menu is from the prehistoric age and very very confusing and cumbersome..the flip down rear view screen ..nutty small..Raws take a millennium to process...but the jpeg IQ is very very good.

Now for you ..just for you ..here are similar shots that I took at full zoom . This shows at least the detail that is being picked up ..so you can transfer that to what a scene shot would be able to show ..I will try and get some of those for you later ..For now ..enjoy or not these!!

Thanks, G; can't wait for rest.

I LOVE the effect of a flower appearing out of a sea of black. My now-off-to-Nikonland 9100 produced one just the other day (bug and all):
