I got my Fuji X10 a few days ago, today i tried it out in video & noticed when zooming in i could hear the barrel clicking in playback.

Also i wouldn't say when going from 28mm to 112mm, that it feels silky smooth as reviews say neither, and the like a slight notchy feeling when i get to about 50mm.

Does this sound like i have a problem with the barrel itself, and does it need to take a trip back to fuji, as if it does i might aswell get the sensor replaced aswell, though i haven't noticed any orbing yet?

Hi that isn't my problem as i don't get any static noise.

The sound i get is basically click click click when i zoom in, which is picked by the mic on the camera.

I think you'll find that this is probably the camera trying to reestablish focus. A perennial weakness of Fuji cameras. It is only noticeable in quiet environments, but if that is your milieu, you might want to check out other cameras for video.

Although I have done a lot of video with the F550EXR (the entire Tommy Rock Opera live for example), I still prefer the video and sound from the venerable Panasonic ZS3. And the new Sony HS30 blows both completely out of the water.

But if video is only mildly interesting to you then consider just switching from continuous focus to center focus for video and allowing the camera to focus only momentarily instead of hunting as Fujis do.

Also, I have found that some Fujis hunt less when shooting 720p instead of 1080p. That is also something to try.

Tbh in think im being abit to fussy when it comes to video on this camera, I won't be using the HD recording feature all that much anyroads.

I basically bought it first & foremost as a Camera that i can take anywere & it's excellent picture quailty, & the video as an added bonus, should i ever need to use it.

In which case it should suffice. Just try some of the things I mentioned to potentially improve your experience and results.

Broken, for sure. Whatever sound isolation they use for the internal microphones (or the mics themselves) must have slipped during manufacture because every single internal noise is being picked up. Send it back for warranty repair.
