i get on really well with my nx100 i use it with the 16mm,30mm,50-200mm and manual lenses (i find x2 zoom fine for manual focus).I only shoot raw

what im wondering is how image quality @ isos compare. AF speed differences ect.
I'm after feedback from people who owned and used both models.

One thing you should keep in mind: the nx200 does not offer a remote shutter port. This might be a dealbreaker for you.

it's slightly over a stop better. focus magnification is surely great and better than having x2. AF slightly faster but not really that much of significance. bulb function is timer based. btw, the NX100 is still great if you don't need the extra mp.

tricky tricky. Deep down i dont think i should upgrade. might just hang on a little longer, ive been abusing my nx100 hoping it will fail so i have an excuses. But for all the nx100 reviews about cheap plastic, its a very tough little bugger. approach 2 years of heavy daily use, plus ive had the sensor out 5 times :). it has been a very good camera. i had said i would buy at £350, might wait till £250 :)

I will have to do a comparison, but the NX200 is much better dynamic range and high ISO (more than 1 stop better probably) if you shoot in RAW. If you are happy with the NX100 though this might not matter to you.

Basically, the 20 MP sensor has a lot less shadow noise so you can push the shadows and still get clean images. This is nice as you can generally avoid multi frame HDR for all but extreme dynamic ranges. You just expose for the highlights and boost the shadows, and Lightroom 4 is great at that.

I find my NX200 tended to expose the RAW files to the left to protect highlights and my NX11 tended to expose the RAW files a bit to the right to protect shadows. For this reason I generally have to boost the exposure quite a bit on the NX200 RAW files, or compensate my exposure accordingly, but it handles exposure boost much better than the NX11. I haven't done much of a side by side, but just going off my hunch from using them.

I haven't used the NX100, but have the NX11, so I can't comment on differences in controls between the NX100 and 200.

The bottom line is, if you get along well with your NX100 you might not want to upgrade right away and save for lenses, as I am super excited about that totally unofficial and rumored lens road map.

it is still a pretty good compact camera backup, setting aside the aesthetics. in terms of image quality (ISO100-ISO400), the NX100 is more than enough and could be used for all eternity til it breaks. the only way that one would possibly retire the the NX100 for good is if the next NX cameras would have better capabilities or functionalities in general (AF accuracy and speed, viewfinder, display screen, faster processor, wider dynamic range, new sensor).

I personally decided not to upgrade, unless I find an incredible deal on nx200 (meaning for 300 euro or less, which is highly unlikely).

This decision is due to the fact that I want a body with evf, but I don't like the nx20 so I decided to wait until the next nx high end body, which I hope will be on par or better than nex7.

Why not go for it? If you get a good deal (around $500-550 for a kit) you can always flip it on ebay and get your money back. The initial slide in kit prices seems to have slowed after the online deals from a few weeks back.

My NX200 had better IQ across the board vs. my NX100 except for the same 'popping contrast' in JPEG and RAW, but the latter was easy to dial in if desired via a solid processor like LR4. The 20.3MP file handling is dog slow though, and you'll be waiting several seconds to get to review or other menu functions after just one RAW+SF exposure.

Build quality and finish is quite a bit better than the eggshell-esque NX100, and from what I've seen there's fewer issues/complaints ala the notorious top wheel failings. The 8x mag is quite excellent for MF, better than green bar FA or the 'shimmer trick' I was using with my NX100.

Good luck, either way!

Come on boys! A little bit more exaltation for NX200 please!

What do you get upgrading EOS550 ---> EOS600? A swivel screen but no visible sensor improvement. What have we seen in various Olympus + Panasonic sucessors? Almost no improvement! Sigma SD14--> SD15? Unfortunately more problems than before (camera works stable now).

NX200 blows 20% more resolution into your eyes. This is a visible difference and in these fast days of camera technology a gigantic step forward. I am so happy not to have missed the good shots of the last months taken with the best tool available.

Agreed. The upgrade from NX100 to 200 is significant and cannot be dismissed as cosmetic, to be sure. I have no idea where the talk about slow AF or 'equal' IQ came from, because I saw a big difference when upgrading.
