this being the first time I have felt the need to ask advice I am here to ask if anyone else with a new 5D3 is having any trouble with raw files being recognized and/or camera being recognized in the provided software?? any observations will be appreciated... bw//

Do you have the latest version (3.11.26) of DPP installed?

"The provided software" I presume you mean DPP and EOS Utility?

I have a 5D3 and I am using DPP 3.11.26 and EOS Utility 2.11.0 and all is well.

The original version of DPP that shipped with the 5D3's did have a problem where it caused the images to be soft, but that was cured in the later version.

Adobe Camera Raw, you again need specific versions in order to be able to open 5D3 RAW's Photoshop CS6 needs ACR 7.1 for instance.

Thank you for your response - it would appear that I have simply done something wrong somewhere - I have updated to the latest versions from the Canon web site - I will just have to keep at it until I figure out what I have done wrong - again thanks for the response.... bw//

3.11.27 came with my camera, it seems to work pretty good but I don't think they have released it to everyone else yet.
