I use canon, and have a pair of 7d, and assorted L lenses falsehs etc etc,

I sometimes cant easily carry all my stuff in a compact fashionm, ie my lopro bag.

so im seeking advice for a easily interchangable lens camera,

im thinking the nikon V1 twin lens kit.

firsty do canon do a similar body?

is the v1 any good for quality photo,? does it do RAW?

and what other same size options are out there?

what do you guys do in this situation?

really thank you for any input,

Nick.

for a general purpose walk around...I suggest people look at the super zooms available. NO lens changes, goes from fairly wide to very long, and...depending on your needs...can produce very accepetable pics.

I have three cameras, various lenses, flashes, etc as well. And lighting kit, and tripods, etc...

I hear ya! My 'camera kit' fits neatly into 5-6 bags, and only take 2-3 trips to the car and back - assuming I have to take the whole kit and caboodle.

Doesn't get much easier to change lenses than your 7D. Push button, twist. Reverse steps. Done.

Want me to go check out the review here and let you know? brb...

Lots of small cameras out there. I like my Sony w50, slips right into my shirt pocket.

I either carry all my stuff, or I pair it down to what I think I'll need, and only take that. One 7d and L-lens is not a problem assuming you have no medical/physical reasons that would prevent you from carrying it.

Sounds like you just want a new camera, so go for it! Otherwise, you would get a second smaller bag and carry one of the cameras you already own.

It would be helpful what kind of work you do so that we can better judge what's important

It's first worth noting that most mirrorless cameras will not have AF near as fast as your 7D, so that's the first compromise you'll have to make for size. Second is if you're using wide aperture L lenses, you will not likely find as many wide aperture lenses (and if you do, they won't be much smaller than the Canon lenses). Another area where their is compromise is equivalent aperture and Depth-Of-Field If you go to a smaller sensor like the Nikon V and f/2.8 lens will have a DOF equivalent to an f/4.8 lens on a 7D.

Canon does not have a small interchangable lens camera, but they have one camera that I'd recommend you look at to weigh your options. The G1-X does not haven an interchangable lens, but it has a larger sensor than the Nikon V1. It has a reasonable zoom range (28-112mm 35mm equivalent f/2.8 on the wide end, f/5.8 at tele) and has very good high ISO performance. It shoots RAW and has a hot shoe for external flashes.

It is decent, but just be aware of the compromises in lens options, AF speed, and such.

Pentax (Q), Fuji (X-1Pro) Olympus (Micro 4/3), Panasonic (Micro 4/3), and Sony (NEX) all have interchangeable lenses. There's also the Leica M9 but that's a rangefinder without autofocus that costs $9,000, so it's kind of a different beast, but it is small full-frame camera that shoots RAW (DNG) and uses Leica lenses.

I'm uncertain of what "this situation" is. It really depends on the kind of work I'm hired to do... maybe I could get away with a G1-X, maybe I could use a Nikon V1, maybe I'd need a Leica M9, or maybe I'd have to suck it up and lug around a dSLR... depends on the job.

hey kb,

same answer as cam above, decided ill get a smaller bag for when i need to go light,

example is july 14 , queenstown skiing, for leisure, dont want to ski with complete backpack full, so bag that will caryy 7d and a lense.

thanks for help guys

nick.

that looks perfect skipper, im looking into it now, shame canon dont do a similar,
Rumors are pointing to Canon announcing their EVIL camera very soon. I would wait to see what they are going to offer. You have good cameras already so it's to your benefit to wait until they announce.

Their new SMT or SLT lenses they announced with the T4i is a clear sign their EVIL camera is ready to launch since it'll likely launch with the same new design of lenses. that allow for silent autofocus from image sensor - based autofocus.

my small bag holds body w/ lens (24-70)
flash
70-200 2.8
16-35

and room for one more (macro, fisheye, 85, whatever) or two if I stack them or move the flash

Loaded the bag is kinda heavy but with one camera/lens around my neck it's not so bad.

I've also fit a second body in there at times, PWs, plus of course batts and cards.

it's an older version of this bag http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/319794-REG/Canon_9320A001_100_DG_Digital_Gadget_Bag.html
