Venus transited the sun this evening. Wont happen again in our lifetimes. I hope that many of you had a chance to view it.

DMC-G3 attached to a Celestron 100ED (900mm) telescope.

Was wondering myself...

Sun flare? Dirt on telescope lens?

Those are sunspots.
Nice image of the Venus transit!

That's by far and away the clearest and sharpest transit photo I've seen - so much detail.

Fantastic! Sun is just now hitting the horizon here, with Venus at about three-o'clock. This has been a neat experience.

Cheers,

Rick

This is the best I could do with the G2 and the 45 - 200 mm lens with a gold plated No. 10 welding filter. Taken from Cedar City, Utah. f 22, 1/1300 sec. ISO 100, 200mm
This was cropped slightly. but not resized, right out of the camera.

One of the best pics i saw so far. Thanks for posting.

Hubby and me got up at 4:45, prepared the meade and cam and waited in vain for a gap in the clouds. Gap arrived 5 minutes after transition was over :(

At least i found a link to watch the nasa livestream.

I was happy to reuse the filter I got for the last Sun eclipse. This was shot in La Paz, Baja California Sur (Mexico):

Vlad S nice shot you even have the same sunspots as we got in our photo.

The one through the telescope is fantastic, and the ones with the cameras are amazing also, isn't digital great?

Extremely well done. Brilliant to see at this clarity.

All the best.

Worry about the image that comes out of the box, rather than the box itself.

Those are sunspots.
Nice image of the Venus transit!
Thanks! I was wondering how everybody had lens dirt in the same exact spots.

BTW why is everyone posting pictures of the transit with Venus always in the same place???
Conspiracy theories have started for much less than this... :)

Thank you all. These m4/3rds cameras really are perfect for telescope and spotting scope photography.

Best,
