For those interested (with comparative ratings):

1D MKIV --> D800E + (big gain in IQ loss in Pro Body / FPS)

8-15 f4 fisheye -- (gone)

14mm f2.8 (replaced by the 14-24) +++ (as good or better at 14 AND it goes to 24)

35mm f1.4 (replaced by 50mm f1.8) - (slight loss)

85mm f1.2 MKII (replaced by 85mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8) - (slight loss)

70-200 MKII f2.8 IS (replaced by 70-200 2.8 VRII) EVEN

24-105 f4 IS (replaced by 24-70 f2.8) + (loss in reach and IS, gain in speed and IQ)

100mm Macro IS (replaced by 105 macro VR) EVEN (maybe + as it can use TC's)

300mm f2.8 IS (WORKING ON THIS ONE) will be EVEN

All within the same budget. The only complete loss is the fisheye (which would be $900 for the 16mm Nikon Fisheye)

Very happy with my decision. All brand new lenses (gain in warranty and resale value), and the best SLR I have ever owned.

I sold a 1D4, a 7D, a 5D3 that I had for about 2 weeks, a 400/2.8, a 70-200/2.8 II, a 100-400, a Siggy 50, My Odins... what else. Now I have a d800, a 200-400/f4, a 70-200/2.8 and a 24-70/2.8. The lack of radio trigger options is a pain and I the Canon 70-200 stomps the Nikon, but all in all I'm very happy. Thrilled, really.

Canon's latest offerings are an INSULT and a SPIT in the face of the Canon shooters.

I myself switched from Canon to Nikon, but keeping 5Dc + assortment of lenses hoping there will be something amazing in the future.

I recommend you buy Sigma 70mm EX DG 2.8 macro, best prime for your new nikon. Also, congratulation on the wise choice.

Nikon will come up with the $1500-$2000 D600 soon as well.

I wonder how many nabs are in the world to pay $3500 for the POS, 7 year old sensor tech MKIII, admittedly with a very good AF but poor FPS in order to utilize that AF properly (eg it's not a sports camera, it's not a good image camera, and it's not a video camera as well - much better options nowadays, and IMO the D800 outclasses the mK III even for video. D600 will be amazing as well!)

I'm curious. Have you tried it? Have you seen tests/reviews of it?
Sigma is a floating duck in the current market. To call the 70mm f/2.8 macro the "best prime for your new Nikon" is frankly a joke.

These two could could have two threads of their own but:
35mm f1.4 (replaced by 50mm f1.8) - (slight loss)
Why did you not replace with the Nikon 35/1.4g ? (which, for me, is better than than the canon 35/1.4L) ?
85mm f1.2 MKII (replaced by 85mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8) - (slight loss)
Why did you get both nikon 85s, and which one are you saying gives you a "slight loss" - and in terms of what is it a slight loss?

Btw, I also switched from 2x5d2 to d800+d800e
