I own a 7D and a 5D MKii.

The same picture in the 7D looks warmer than in the 5D, why? Why is the LCD warmer or cooler? Makes no sense. Is it adjustable? Which one is correct?

I'm not talking about pictures taken with both cameras, just one picture and putting the card in one or the other.

Thanks

Aside from any LCD issues. Maybe its the white balance meters as they both use different white balance metering. The 7D uses the more advanced iFCL 63 zone metering while the 5D2 uses the older gen 35 zone meter.

So maybe try using spot metering to take identical shots and see if the LCD is still different.

Anyway, I don't think it would be anywhere as bad as D800 LCD which has an annoying green tint to it.

He said the same picture on a card moved between cameras looks different so the white balance doesn't enter into it.

My question is why could it possibly matter?

Damn I should have read the OP correctly. Anyway, the only reason I brought up the possibility of metering differences is that I used to have a 5D2 and a 550D as backup and they both metered differently given the same settings and lens.

Oh well if its really bothering the OP then probably take it to the canon service center and see what they say.

It matters because when I look at the picture I want to know if the WB is good. This way I don't know which LCD to trust.

I know I can use RAW and do the WB later etc, etc...

I see. Well you could compare them against a calibrated monitor and see which is correct. But there is no adjustment you would probably have the offending screen replaced. Probably not worth the expense.

my 5D3 a trace more accurate than my 7D which is radically more accurate than my 5D2 LCD which is basically entirely useless for judging even a hint about WB or colors.

The 7D is pretty accurate, maybe a tad yellow, but the 5D is a bit off towards reds...
