I Just Canceled My Pre-Order For A Nikon D800E.

I also at first thought of buying a D800E body and then placed an order for it. After a second thought of that heard the camera does not up to professional standard as it supose to be I cancelled my ordered. Its is not only the pixels that counts, the camera must up to certain standard at least better than D700. I am happy with my D3X.

1. This is one release that Nikon failed miserably in getting off to a successful launch, IMO. This, plus the wait for the camera and all the purported rumors of its design / menu functions / buttons and picture quality features not being up to standards for a professional caliber camera body, make it a camera I am not going to waste my money or anymore time on trying to get.....
If there were less people as arrogant and self-centered as you, the world would be a better place. Could you change, please?

Think, for a moment, if you don't mind sparing your valuable time, about the situation Nikon and their employees found themselves in 2011. I won't give you any hints, but if you've informed enough to know about the "purported rumours" and the notion that the D800 really was a failed product launch, you should know full well what I'm talking about.

It's Bush's fault.

+1 to all your comments, I don't get his points in this case, doesn't make much sense.

Nikon has achieved the impossible. It's both incredibly successful and botched all in one bag. The success is undeniable. So is the botching (Q/C issues which should never have been there in the first place).
its design / menu functions / buttons and picture quality features not being up to standards for a professional caliber camera body,
I don't see it that way. IQ is superb, design is excellent. There are some features that could use some improvements such as the settings bank, but IMO they don't justify at all such a harsh assessment of the D800.
And, of course, I'll be looking at the smaller D600 when / if such a camera is released.
Wise call, considering the rumored price.
2. Have any others of you similarly canceled your pre-orders of the Nikon D800/D800E
No, no way. Plus, at the pace it's being delivered, the D800s will be out by the time my order ships. Free upgrade ;)

My Deepest Heartfelt Thanks to You, Sir! Your generosity will always be remembered.

Is there some others too who canceled their pre-orders for D800E? I want to thank them too..

(I placed my D800E order just in the same hour it was announced, still no d#&n clue when it will arrive.. :( :( )

+1

Why do you think people care what gear you buy? Your obviously embittered about something, but I'm not sure what you expect people to do with your news. I for one normally do cartwheels at such fascinating and significant posts, but I've been busy watching paint dry.

You didn't get it immediately, as you expected. Is that pretty much it? The rest sounds like just so much hog wash. The camera was released only about 36 days ago, and orders were stacked extremely high. Given that the Nikon factory had only recently recovered from a disaster, I'm surprised they were able to meet the announce date with the number of units they did.

I cancelled my order for a new wife. My lawyer advised me on that.

I'll settle for my D800. Nice body, highly responsive, and I love her.

oh...on second thoughts...

You make the decision to outlay that much money and then change your mind because of a minute percentage of complaints, most by people who had not even got thir camera yet. How sad. Anyway as the previous poster stated, you have enough cameras to play with as that is what it seems you were buying it for. You would have got bored with it after a week anyway so just as well saved your money.
Loving our D800. It has already made most of it's cost back in work.

I cancelled my summer holiday because it is too long to wait until summer, and one person had a bad summer holiday last year.
I just cancelled my order for a new Ferrari because the waiting list was too long, and ferrari only came 3rd in Monaco at the weekend. I mean when paying that much for a car I don't expect to have to wait!!!! I might buy a ford focus instead. I hear there is no wait for one of these.

Ps
Like you, I just made that all up

Why doesn't he join in the thread that he started then?
You'll have to ask him.

His post as worded can only (or mostly) attract non-constructive answers. Still that does not change the fact that this is an exception in his past posting history in the Nikon fora.
