Ordered, together with 16mm f2.4 for £149.00!
thanks for the link!

haha my forecast coming true :)

next step is nx20 at 650 euro in 6 months from now :)

not surprised considering the availability of the newer NX210 for $900 and NX1000 for $700.

great deal for those who wanted to purchase the NX200.

Now that's what I call a deal for anyone looking for this type of camera. Sadly for me a camera without an articulated screen is unacceptable which is a pity as I love the image quality of this camera.
RMW487.

the NX200 is presently the best value among those you quoted. NX210 definitely is not worth the price difference just for WiFi and minor enhancements, and NX1000 should cost LESS than NX200, imho.

NX20 should cost at most like NX210, considering you can get many of its features now for 399GBP, excluding WiFi, swivel screen, AVF and 1/8000 shutter speed :) I don't really think that those features are worth 500GBP :D

NX200 is now the toughest competitor (in price/value ratio) of NX210/1000/20, imho! same IQ, more or less same processing speed (with latest fw) than those, for half the price or way less!

Hi everyone,

My first post :). I have the option to choose between Henry's price of around 500 USD with the 18-55 lens and the this UK offer which would be equivalent to around 565 USD with the 20-50 lens. Henry's offer also includes a bag and a 8GB card, but these are not essential for me.

Which one would you recommend - the 18-55 or the 20-50 kit for 65 USD more?

Thanks!

in your case, always the 18-55 ;) as it is even the cheaper option.

reason: the 20-50 is the slowest focusing lens within the NX line up and despite it being optically better then the other 18-55 Kit I was not really happy but used Pancakes only when compactness was required.

don't forget that it is still unknown if the new accessories can be used on the nx200.

one of the previews mentioned that the usb shutter release is not backwards compatible to the nx200. the external mic is also not mentioned on the nx200 accessories website and who knows how it'll be for other stuff in the future.

And I don't expect any clarification from Jay though, so we'll have to wait til someone buys the damn shutter or mic thing and puts it on his nx200. great. (any volunteers?)

I would try the "shutterthing" but I have no clue where to get it from ;)

Thanks, appreciate the comment. I am planning on getting the 30mm pancake anyway, so the focus speed seems to clinch it for the 18-55 :)

Have a nice day.

you're welcome..

BTW: in case someone believes that the NX11 ist still a good offer that Camerawolrd UK shop sells the NX11 as Kit incl the 20mm Pancake for just 299 GBP to get it out of their inventory....

I might even buy one online once it becomes available, plug it in, and send it back if it doesnt work. But that's not how it should work. A simple "nah, doesn't work on your nx200, buy a new cam" from Samsung would still be better than nothing ;)

as I am expecting the NX20 to come along in a few days I would be able to try it on both cams so if you got a source for it :D .

there will be a new version of the 20-50mm, according to the announcement 30% smaller and with better IQ.

If the new version doesn't face the same quality issues as the new 18-55 version then it might be better to get the kit with the old 18-55 now and maybe - if you'd like a smaller zoom - get the new 20-50 version later (I'd still keep the 18-55 then, the OIS is quite handy in some cases)

yes, but the new 20-50 will only ship with the upcoming new NX1000 in a month or so, so no way to speculate with that one for now

Thanks to you too. What you suggest makes sense. This will be my first IL system, so the compactness is a factor. The good thing is that the Samsung lens are comparatively very affordable - actually this is one of the reasons for choosing the NX.

Cheers.

if compactness is important then it's probably better to compare sizes of both lenses (if possible in a shop)
the 18-55 is quite big compared to the 20-50.

there will be a new 20-50 but as tjobbe pointed out, it's not available yet - and once it becomes available, the lens alone will be a bit expensive (compared to the costs in a kit).
