Hello,

I've been searching for the Metz 3602 module for the Sony F707 for some time and have been unable to locate one. Can anyone who has obtained one in the US let me know who has it. The local camera shop suggested B&H and they don't list it online. Has anyone ordered it from overseas? Can anyone overseas recommend a dealer who will ship to the US?

Thanks much,
Michael

Go to this website:

HTTP: www.precision-camera.com

Get this phone # and call since this is a special order....Ask for Ian....He will know the process for ordering this item since he just did it for me....Price is $60

Or just email them and you may get somewhere but talking to Ian will get you right to the source that knows exactly how to get this as fast as possible.

Hope this helps!

jagr,

SCA3602 is not supposed to work with F717. This is confirm by Metz directly. According to Metz, there is an upgrade version of 3602 planned. It is expected the end of this months but there is no fix schedule yet.

If you want to use the 32MZ-3 with 717 then I strongly suggest you to wait.

If the SCA3602 does not work on the 717 with a 54MZ-3......I sure do not see it......I also had Metz confirm that it is not supposed to work as well, but I tried one out and I sure do not see what works...

I have been nothing but thrilled with the great exposures it turns out in full TTL mode.

The 3602 with the 54MZ-3 - the 54MZ-3 has a display back....When you press the the shutter half way, the proper ISO/Focal point/Shutter are shown on the back of the flash.....Of course, I verified all this in the exif data as well - all is right on the money.

To take it a step further, Just to make sure I was getting TTL exposuring rather than from the flash sensor, I blocked the flash sensor and it did not affect the exposure proving it is using TTL in the simplest of terms.....

Hey, I hope you are right, I hope this SCA/Flash combo is not working......And that the un-released one works....If it gets better than this, I will buy that one as too....

The only thing that is not passed to the flash is zoom distance for the auto zoom head on the flash. I contacted Sony and they informed me that the 707/717 does not transmit this info period. So, not a limitation of the flash or a mulfunction, just does not do it!

adaptor?
According to the Metz charts most of their flashes work with that series adapter.

This is the point. The upgraded version version is going to come out soom. i guess I will wait for the latest. Hoping there is a better features and much better exposure out of the flash.

Do you mean focus distance or zoom(focal) length? If focal length is transmitted to the flash I don't see how come the flash cannot adjust the zoom head according to the focal length(zoom). I am sorry I am a little bit confused with your terms :zoom distance" and "focal point"

I checked my local store for the 32MZ-3 and most of them come with adaptors for canon, minolta etc and not the standard adaptor.

If I purchase one of these first and wait for the Sony adaptor later on will I be able to use them for the time being? since they are not the standard adaptors. thanks

Yes! just change the adaptor!

but 3602 or 3602M both work only for 707. Don't know which module for 717 yet!

The SCA-3602 will work with the 54MZ-3 on the F717, i asked Metz about it and they said i can use it.

You have to turn the loudspeaker off because the flash will report an incorrect aperture of 1.7 and beep every second, thats why you need to turn off the speaker.

The correct aperture is reported when you push the shutter half way down. Other than that the combo works fine.

I was wondering if I can use the flash that is using minolta or canon adaptor first because the 3602M adaptor is not out yet and I need a flash!

3602M is already out, just don't see it in states! I got mine from another country!

Maybe http://www.technikdirekt.de will ship overseas? Do a search on Metz SCA 3602 on their site. It costs €56. I just ordered this adapter together with the Metz 54 MZ 3. I'm also waiting for the F717 to arrive in about a week. Good luck!
