Just happened to check this morning, on a whim. The D800E is now available from BestBuy, by mail, or locally, in a couple of weeks. I just placed an order for one, to be picked up at my local store on June 5.

June 5th is 2.5 weeks away. That doesn't seem right. If they have it in stock, why would it take so long to get it to your local store? If they don't have it in stock, how would they know they will have it by then? Nikon doesn't give advanced warning.Just happened to check this morning, on a whim. Thanks for the heads up chashertz. And thanks to the wonder of smartphones I ordered minutes after your post while on the train on my way to work, woohoo. Also got 18 months interest free, free shipping, BestBuy points to get (offset the tax also) some extra goodies and a 45 day return policy for reward zone members.Just happened to check this morning, on a whim. Here's my guess. Nikon doesn't predict or give notice, but it's reasonable that Best Buy would get notice of the arrival of a container in Long Beach, CA with its name on it. Allow time for trucking to the center where Best Buy parcels the contents out for trucking to its various stores and maybe you get 2.5 weeks. It may take less time, and Best Buy may just be avoiding imposing time pressures on itself.June 5th is 2.5 weeks away. That doesn't seem right. I realized that not only did I get 18 months free financing I also got triple points as a reward zone customer. The triple points offer ends tomorrow so perhaps folks that ordered today can still take advantage of it, that's like $195 on the D800E.I did the same thing. I got a promotional email from BB this AM so I went to their site and checked out the body-only DSLR options just for kicks. Lo and behold, there was the D800E with in-store pickup! Decided, what the heck, I am back ordered everywhere else, why not here? Of course, they hedge the bet by saying estimated pickup date is June 5th so we will see.
