Just another frustration post as I miss event after event during my very busy month of may....

Sigh...

Maybe I can fly over and help them put one together.

. . . I've had mine for almost three weeks but I feel your pain. Demand for silver bodies is clearly greater than the supply but this shortage can't last much longer IMO.

Next up on the rumor page...."Olympus ceases production of silver bodies, neglected to mention only planned a limited 1,000 run." The actual silver 12-50 lens....oh, they only made 4 of those.... =-)

Still waiting on B&H. Stimmer when did you order, I forgot. I'm March 30th....

I'm first on the list but my supplier hasn't gotten any of the silver yet. I didn't go through B&H and Adorama.

I'm about ready to see if B&H will switch my order to a black kit.

God loves the noise just as much as the signal.

The UK is expecting a large consignment of silver bodies and kits in 2 weeks (from several sources).

There must have been an issue with the production or, as someone else mentioned, the silver proved more popular than anticipated in Asia.

Its only been 3 weeks, but feels much longer since my shooting season is now basically over and I'm missing the camera for my trip to Yosemite on Monday.

The funny thing is I'm actually starting to lose interest. Maybe the delay will save some money for me. Or maybe I'll dabble with a Fuji x100 instead.

And even with missing all those events you still don't want the black?

I just don't understand people.
. . . When I spend $1000 on a camera that I expect to use for a long time, I want it to look the way I want and the silver body looks very nice to me.

My silver kit with the 12-50mm lens I ordered from B&H on 3/12 is sitting in the local UPS warehouse this weekend. I am so looking forward to holding it on Monday!!!

PS

and got black.

But, to tell the truth, I was at the camera store exploring this little jewel for half an hour before I remembered that I ordered silver. Must have been distracted...

Two weeks later, I could care less. A few days with the EM5, and you'll forget all about case color.

If I can't get either one I might as well wait for the color I want.

The truth is I plan on shooting a lot with the 45mm and upcoming 75mm, which both look much better to me on the silver body.

I like the grip on the silver better as well.

That being said I wish Olympus had just made everything black, including the lenses and there would be no issue.

I still think it's utterly ridiculous that they can't get cameras off the production line in a reasonable amount of time. By the time everyone gets their cameras it will be 4 months from annoucement. That is just unacceptable.

I ordered the silver kit + spare battery and 4/3 adapter on Feb 16. It shipped on Thursday and I should have it on Monday.

Its a bit odd though. I talked to them on Thursday and was told they didn't have it yet but were expecting to start shipping sliver kits again next week and then it shipped shortly after I finished talking to them.

. . . At many businesses, the customer service people on the phone banks often have no idea what's recently arrived in the warehouse or sitting on the receiving dock on a pallet.

I just spoke to a rep from a camera shop in the Boston area and he said that Olympus didn't anticipate the demand for the silver models. According to his supplier they're going to start importing silver models from Europe to help meet the demand in the US. He expected them to start showing up in the next week or two.

I have to assume they'll be covered by US warranties and be compatible with the US electrical system even though they're coming from Europe.

Still waiting for mine...
