Canon's new DSLR unveiled (picture)

is awfully ugly, or is it just me??!! damn, i prefer my white chocolate D60 to this overly big-headed small-bodied SLR :)

Oh, the fake is a weak fake, but it might be really useful to show when you don't even have a prototype at hand.

true, 90 out of 100 people "on the street" may believe this incredibly crude mockup, but then in my estimation, 90% of the population are morons. just look at the pathetic media cr@p they watch on TV- reality TV shows like cops, big brother, etc, or the movies they see- Adam Sandler in his latest infantile attempt at comedy...

the point is, people in this forum are not , in general, your average sap. they have invested a large amount of money in a bleeding-edge piece of equipment and presumably have at least a reasonable command of photoshop and other digital image editing software.

IMO the fake was extremely easy to identify as fake and I think most competent PS users could do much, much better in a short time period. I was surprised it was not better executed. Anyone who thinks that was anywhere close to a convincing mockup has a helluva lot to learn about photoshop...
I think it looks quite cool ;) Hehe. Though the color is kinda
evil, but of course that was intentional. At first I though if you
had made it totally from scratch, in which case it'd be even cooler
:)
Funny and well done, IMHO :)

...and I don't wear dentures! LOL

(whew) I'm just glad this a fake, because for a few seconds....

will you lighten up a little. Let's see your rendition you non-average sap, or are you part of the 90% out there?

--Hi Guillaume in Paris!

Congratulations for your idea, I think its very good. I think it would be a very good creative sketch concept for a developing department.

In fact I had a model very much like it: If my mind serves me well, the model was (is because I still have one broken body of the two I bought) the Minolta Maxxum 8000i. I was a special edition 35mm camera. I broke my first body the first week after I droped it from high on the roof I was working to the floor! (Wah!!) Fortunately, the white (pearl white actually) lense wasn't damaged; so I bought a second body and keep using the camera until a theaf got into my house and took a lot of things, including my Maxxum 8000i and a Mamiya 645. So all I have is a "new" body and no lense. When you turn it on (yes it still can be turned on) it says "help" on the top panel!

I have a friend that liked the camera so much, that keeps telling me he wants to buy the broken body, I just have to say the price!?? But anyway, it was a beautiful camera and everybody that saw it was very much impress with it.
Best regards, and keep posting those designs!

Edge design at its best... it helps understand the Dimage series :) but this maxxum was much more stylish to my eyes, pearl white apart.

You got me right, ERA. My awfully awful fakeish fake awfully done and not even credible with both eyes closed was nothing more than a style study for fun and to make others have a good time laughing at the silly idea. I think it's better to draw nonsenses than let a blind designer create the Dimage 7!

erm, this ain't a competition, i have little desire to create my own mockup as i have other things i'd rather be doing. unless of course you want to put up some prize money for the best effort, then i would definitely consider putting in the effort.

fwiw i work with photoshop on a daily basis as a web designer, and have done so for the last 7 years. photography is merely a hobby (a damn expensive one at that).

sorry if i have high standards but i call 'em as i see 'em, especially in this semi-pro public forum. he was claiming it was real and i called him on it, and explained why it was not convincing. simple.
will you lighten up a little. Let's see your rendition you

Hmmm, Warren your offer is tempting. Let's say I put up $20 and we have a vote off: you against Gil. You win, you get $20, Gil wins, I get $20. But I'm afraid the 90% morons out there might just vote you off the island :)

sorry but i hardly think $20 is a tempting booty. say i spent 2 hours to do a decent job, at $60 per hour, that's $120 and more worth my time.

the only other problem of course is manipulation of the voting process... could be hard to ensure we get a realistic outcome
