Was at Bestbuy today and saw some Fellowes LCD protectors in the camera section. There were 2 sizes in the pack and either 3 or 6 of each size. I was wondering if anyone had used these and found them to be better than the Fellowes PDA protectors since they say they are specifically for LCD's. I opted for the Compaq Ipaq protectors as there were 12 sheets that can make 2 protectors each. Both products were $20 and I figured the LCD type were probably the same product just cut to size and half of them were too small for the S45 I will be getting in 2 more days (why didn't I pay extra for 2 day shipping?).

Not sure, but since PDA screens are meant to be written on, perhaps the PDA screen protectors have a special surface finish optimized for writing but which may negatively affect visibility.

I opted for the Digital Camera Screen Protectors at Best Buy. I got 6 cards that have an LCD protector on them. I've used these on my S45 for a month now and they're good. The LCD is nice and visible and it protects the LCD very well. The screen protectors are alittle bigger than the screen and thats great, it just makes it easier to peal off and apply a new one.

Did you get the fellowes one's? I also saw another brand that had protectors and cleaners bundled.

The PDA color ones, like the Compaq's I got, are not supposed to have any texture because it creates a moire pattern on the color screens. The ones designed for monochrome have the texture. At least that's the way I understand it. I have not actually opened mine as I don't even have the camera yet and wanted to get opinions about the LCD specific product before opening.

Could you please tell us what exactly you got?
There is Fellowes and then some other brand which includes cleaner.

I just remembered the manufacturer of the LCD protector that including some wet and dry cleaning cloths. It is made by SIMA but I cannont find the product, or the Fellowes LCD protector, on Bestbuys website. They did have them in the store though. If anyone has used either of these, please comment on how they compare to the PDA protectors. BTW, the SIMA product was around $15.
Thanks,
Adam

I got the Fellowes brand protectors. They're in the Digital Camera section where all the CF card and batteries are.

Adam,

You mentioned replacing the screen protector and also that you've used them on the camera for a month. Do they need to be replaced that often? Considering there are only 6 in the pack and they cost $20 this seems like it will add up in time. I was hoping they would last at least a few months or more. Thanks for the updates as you seem to be the only one actually using this product that is responding. My camera should be here tomorrow!!!

No problem!. I've only replaced it once. The second protector has lasted me a little over three weeks now. It still looks as good as new. The first one got stained with some mysterious stain that the lens cleaner wouldn't take off.

Adam,

Just wanted to let you know I got my S45 today and tried out the Fellowes WriteRight's for the Compaq Ipaq on it. Each sheet can actually be cut into quarters giving you 4 LCD protectors per sheet. 12 sheets included. They fit very nicely and are clear without any texture on them. If you ever need any additional protectors, I'd recommend just getting these instead of the ones specifically made for LCD's. I really think they are probably made out of the same thing just not precut.
Back to reading my manual....
