*** Mini-Challenge 323 - Shadows and Light ***

Thanks Janne for taking over the challenge. I'm sorry I didn't realize you were in second place, so this may be a good time to congratulate you on that.
No problem though I think you could of still ran the mini challenge. (; (I also forgot to mention your winning name when I posted the mini's topic.... its been a busy weekend indeed)

I am enjoying seeing all the entries and have seen a few stunning ones that pop right out.

I often am told, its all about light and then shadows do play a great part at certain times of the day for effects.

Keep the entries coming,
if I don't comment on each, I will do so at the end of the challenge.

Beautiful photography in this thread =^.^=

I'm having difficulties in my 'photography' - lost my appetite due the prolonged winter. Colours in nature are white, black and grey. Trees are bare naked and nature seems to be dead. The good part is that the spring is coming despite we had snow storm last week :)

Congratulations Sueanne...and good timing for your MC. I just started processing some shots from last weeks trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. The dune field (tallest dunes in North America) occupies more than 30 square miles and is backed on one side by towering peaks of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Thought I'd share a few here.

Early Sun -- This morning found a dusting of snow on the dunes, which quickly melted.

Curves -- Ever changing lines etched in the sand.

Dunetops -- A late day hiker was spotted from 650-foot-tall "High Dune."

Swirls -- Damp sand (darker) and drier sand combined to form cool designs across the dunes. (Off contest of course.)

Thank you Petabix. Most of the people on the dunes that day (not many really) left to get back down before it got late. But that's when the light was just getting good. :)
I especially like number 3, with the inclusion of the hiker.

A tree casting a shadow on a pink carnival ride truck, in early spring sunlight. I shot it with my Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX DC, portrait orientation. The central part is a normal 3:2 ratio shot, with two extra shots (one on each side obviously) to make it square when stitched together.

Had to put this image in this challenge... Creative view point (me down in a ditch on the side of the road), the bright light on the petals of the spring anemones. The shadow cast by the little bug (small wasp?) on the petal, the faint shadowy figures of trees in the background. All stitched together from a number of shots taken with my EF 35mm f2 (and 12mm extension tube).

Hard to choose, most of my images are about light and shadow.
Third then, rowing women eights:

And out of competition, playing with shadow and light:
