Hi!

I found a old flash. This flash was used with an old Russian camera (Wera). I haven´t used an exernal flash jet. I used only internal flash of digital camera. I must now take photos from a basketball match and the internal flash dont´t provide enough of power. The flash must be set manual. I don´t know what can I change with button on this flash? It is complicated to find out what this numbers all mean? Please help!

Stop right now !!!

This is a sure recipy for burning out your camera trigger circuit or worse. Flash have trigger voltage that can range from 3 to 300 volts. Most new camera can only take 12 volts max, the ISO standard, and Canon stuff only 6 volts max.

For more info do a search on this forum. IUt has been discussed at length many times

Don't even bother. That model has maybe 1/2 stop more power than your digicam's built-in flash. Plus it's over 20 years old, so I wouldn't bank on it's reliability.

Bump the ISO on the digicam, use the built-in and live with the increased noise.

Why would go something wrong? The flash has own batterys (2XAA) and is wired to camera to flash at right time, when you press the shot button.

I have allready said, that I don´t know much about flash lighting. Is there in net a page about flashes and lighting tecnique?

I have tested the flash withbateries and its working well. When you press manually button flash flashes!
Thanks for answers!

Here is a site that talks about the problem of flash voltage:

If the flash only has 2 batteries, I suspect it isn't that powerful.

Also, you didn't specify what camera you have. Many digital cameras don't have the ability to add an external flash, and some that do only work with their manufacturers brand of flash (or knock offs). Also, you probably will get a better response to this type of question in the forum devoted to your camera. In terms of Olympus cameras, I have a FAQ on how to connect flashes (auto-thrystor, TTL, and slave), but it doesn't go into technique:

http://www.the-meissners.org/olympus-flash.html

Depending on the flash, it may just be simpler to buy a new flash. A non-TTL flash that many people like is the Vivitar 285HV, which goes for ~ $80 (Sunpac 383 is another brand). I used an OEM flash (Kalimar 175A) that seems to be the same as the Tiffen/Kodakgear flash Circuit City sells for ~ $40 if you don't need the range of the Vivitar.

Nice site. I found the Voltage of this flash and won´t use it in any kind of a digital camera!

Thanks
