When you use a card reader to upload files to a Mac, the Mac writes some sort of file to the card. Once that file is on the card, Fuji's have a real hard time starting up. 10-20 second sounds right to me. The X100 does it, the X10 did it, and the X-pro 1 does it. It's not a huge deal - once you understand it you just don't upload until and unless you're going to format the card as soon as you put it back in the camera. I'd do this anyway as a matter of course with any camera during the upload session. It just takes a few seconds longer with the Fuji. I don't LIKE it, but it doesn't affect my shooting, it just adds a few seconds to my upload time. It's a fuji issue because none of my other cameras do this and all three of my Fuji's do or did. He's not wrong, but I don't get why it bothers him so much. How often do you upload to your computer (or iPad) and then have to shoot right NOW?No idea what he's on about with his SD card and Photoshop/Bridge issues

He did not like it. I'm not sure I like his style of review? Am I a fanboy? Nope, I'll have to see it for myself on Monday when mine comes. I did not like Sony NEX-7 because of it's over jealous interface. Tri-Navi was great only 3 times but the system did very little to back it up. Am I the only one that thinks Zeiss 24mm wasn't worth 1k. Very soft at that price point. It should've been labeled 24mm f2.8 not F1.8. NEX-7s' video shut down w/ only few minutes of use in many occasions... very frustrating (he mentions it but not to the extend). I kept on hitting the v-record button by mistake. It is cute but too small...'felt hollow', there should be some substance... what is it a Intel-CPU-keeps getting smaller and smaller... what are we gonna shoot the NEX-8 w/? our pinch? If I don't agree on some of the things he said about NEX-7.... I may not agree w/ him on more things... We'll see. I hope he's wrong.
If he's right, I'll give him props!
But, something about 'HIS WAY'... I don't like...'CAPS', also seems bit ostentatious about his M9... Of course XP1s gonna be lighter if you're used to using M9 585g vs XP1 451g... It's all relative... say it like is... don't just dismiss it or be ignorant about it... somehow he just doesn't seem all that convincing to me... We'll see if I'm wrong...
If I don't like it I will spit it out like rotten-egg-jellybeans. But I hope he's wrong.
Fuji might have asked him to release the review after the first batch delivery... timing seems fishy. Conspiracy truth? Is that why DPR's holding it's review too? hmm...
Why do so many like and he don't like? hmm... Wait til Monday. I'll tell it like it is!
To be honest, for these kind of once-in-awhile-most-anticipated device in general, this case camera X Pro1 . Go out there, grab and feel it. There's no point in hearing what someone feels about it, no matter his or her credential. If you enjoy the camera and can cope with its quirks, then you decide, if not then next time. A reviewer is not your dad back when you were under 18, making up the choice for you. I have personally read a bunch of reviews and done my homeworks on the XP1, seen a lot of 'opinions'. They don't hold me off from getting it as my first ever real camera (not point and shoot). I like what it does, ordered and will explore.
I understand it's hard earn money, but people complain and whine too much. Appreciate the image it delivers, that's all.

--I don't own PS or Bridge though. But Aperture certainly does not make it happen.

I think I may have experienced this once when I formatted the SD card on the computer first, but except of that I always use a card reader and don't have this problem with it freezing up. I use Photo Mechanic to copy the files to the Mac. Do not drag thema cross manually. So I don't think it is related to card reader, but rather if you write or perhaps delete som hidden files on the SD card. When you use a card reader to upload files to a Mac, the Mac writes some sort of file to the card.
