Canon S230- The Perfect Case

http://www.pbase.com/gdog123/canon_s230_cases

Updated with side by side comparison shots...Tamrac 5688 vs Canon PSC300 lookalike vs IXUS metal case...I took them really quick...
Deciding whether or not I should keep the IXUS case...
It looks cheap and offers little protection compared to that of
Canon PSC-100. I do like the snug fit and the compactness WITHOUT
the extra battery, however, with the extra battery, the case bulks
up considerably.

That being said, the PSC-100 is a little bigger in size, but offers
more protection. It also bulks up with an extra battery in the
side pocket.

Cheers!

In this case I would highly suggest the Tamrac 5688. It's very slim
and lightweight. The metal case is a bit heavier...it's also harder
to fit in a pocket unless you are wearing loose fitting jeans.
Thanks,

Your nominations please for the perfect case for the s230. Mine is
on the way from B & H today. I passed on the canon leather case--no
padding. I am looking for something that compliments the size of
the camera, offers some impact protection and a pocket for an extra
CF card and battery.

Thanks for the pics!!!

I thought I would resurrect this thread.

I found a nice padded case for my S230, made by Case Logic. The camera fits very snug inside, with room in a front pocket for a spare battery and spare CF card. Has a beltloop with 2 velcro attachments, and can be undone. Has loops for a strap, but does not come with a strap. Got it at CompUSA for $5.99

I also tried out the LowePro Z5, but the camera seemed to rattle around inside.

Here are some pictures of the Case Logic DS1

Just posted images of what I consider the ideal case for the S230...the Canon PSC-100. It protects the camera, is small even with the extra CF card and spare battery, and is not even noticed when worn on the belt. Paid about $8 at Ecost as I remember.

Perfect match to the camera!

With the LowePro Dres 8s, you don't have to undo your belt to remove the case however, with the PCS-100 riding horizontally it might actually ride better.

I saw a Canon S200 in a Nikon open top, leather/vinyl belt case the other day that seemed ideal for rapid deployment.

Ed:I bought the 230 so I could drp it in my shirt pocket or pants pocket. So right now I'm using the bubble wrap that it came in - no bulk!

Obviouly it's not the best protection but most of the cases don't seem to lend itself to pocket comfortability.

How about the StarTac case, Ed? You seem to be on the right track?

Tks

The Tamrac case is very small...the camera fits very snuggly into
the case and the padding is minimal...no extra bulk

I have a Treo for a Phone/PDA and it's small enough to fit in my pocket so now I use th Brookstone pouch to carry my S230 in my belt. The size is pretty small that others actually think I have a special phone in there. To me it's a better option than carrying the S230 in my pant's pocket. It's also more secure.
