Hello Everyone -

Once again, there were so many outstanding images last week. Officially, Spring (Vernal Equinox) has arrived - at least in the northern hemisphere even if it's still chilly and doesn't feel like Spring yet in many areas. But don't let that keep you from getting out there with your cameras! So let the game begin... and keep the ball rolling and share your monochromes, B&W and Sepia creations!

Post a maximum of two images (post them in a single post, not split over two posts). It can be any camera, you can say what it is if you like. You can also say whether it was an in camera B&W and the mode or what PP software you use if you like.

Reply to this first post and change your subject line to reflect your subject. Please switch to "threaded view" instead of "flat view". I try and respond to all posts, but if your post is not threaded properly I may miss it.

You may include the colour originals if you like for comparison, this doesn't count toward your two weekly submissions.
It would be nice to hear why you chose B&W instead of colour.

Please be nice and comment on any photos you like. If possible, let's leave a full day for posting of the images and then we can follow up with comments. This should allow more people an opportunity to post an image.

Thanks in advance to all who participate and for making this something to look forward to each week.

The usual (for me): ACR, Photoshop, Silver Efex Pro, then extras. Why B/W for these particular images? I guess because I was interest in tone and texture, and I think color would have taken away from that. Not a very satisfying explanation, I'm afraid. Why Canon? I wasn't satisfied with 60mm max focal length.

The low-key, static, grunge way

The high-key, clean, dynamic way

First day Spring 2K12 was this past Tuesday and nights are still cold......I even found a few dead bugs in the patio of my house.....Birds are more copious though....

Went to the local airshow today, got a number of nice shots too :)

This is a demonstration of our firefighting helicopter. They are predicting a bad fire season this summer so it's a good thing it appears to be working well. Not sure if the B&W is an improvement or not, but it does give a different feeling.

This is a jet trainer aircraft, we had beautiful partly cloudy skies for photography.

There are some more shots of the airshow on my Flickr page, but nothing in B&W yet.

Local train station; sorry no passengers, shot taken on Saturday - no trains on Saturdays :( .. in meantime one can enjoy the display of the "artistic" outbursts (?) on the walls of the building..

Detail - simple, but beautiful light-fixture above the entrance to the station

Detail - arched window, stone/brick masonry - also exhibiting delicate black-smith's work..

Kamnik, Slovenia.

( The last shot (with the bars) is dedicated to our dear friend in Cornwall (no pun intended, mate!) ) ;)

Best regards, :D
