At least for a while.

5d3 is as good as a D800.

Hmm. Seems like you really don't believe that statement if you have to make it a thousand times.

Then there's the real stretch, the 5d3 is better than the D800!

Y'all sound like the guys in the m4/3 forum who think m4/3 cameras have as good of IQ as a 5d2.

So funny!

Picking up my 5D Mk III in a few hours.

And can't wait.

It is the (very) noisy few who seem to feel the need to argue that the camera they propose to buy is better than all others in all ways!!! My favourite is those who argue that somehow more than 22 mp will provide no benefit, yet wait to hear what they say when cannon introduce a higher mp camera.

I am in fact happy that Canon did not make a 36 MP 5D III.

So I believe rather that some Nikonites are envious for those who have the 5D III....

If Canon will make a 36 MP edition, I will rather go for 22 MP.... if they have the option.

I know for a fact that I will not go for a 36 MP canon camera if Canon has a good option in the 22 MP range.

We shall bookmark this comment.

I'll bet you will be all over the 5D4 or whatever, if it will have 40+ MP, being better then any Nikon....

If I had Canon lenses, I would be happy with a 5DmkIII. Faster workflow for my high volume shootings than with the D800.

I have Nikon lenses and I will be happy with a D800. Larger files for my architecture and landscape work than with the 5DmkIII.

In the end they are both amazing cameras and this whole "mine is better than yours" is just ridiculous. If you have problems getting great shots with either of those cameras, you should probably start a new hobby.

Many in this forum already have a hobby. It's just that it's not photography. It's equipment top trumps.

It was always the case and Canon, Nikon etc., knew this perfectly well and were very happy to make equipment for a sector of the market even though that sector hardly ever put a film through their products, other than to photograph test charts.

But this situation has escalated with digital. Computer geeks meet photographic anoraks! A scary combination.

But no matter - they all buy equipment and that helps keep the manufacturers and everyone else in the chain in business. And it probably means we all get better and cheaper equipment as a result.

It does create childish and boring forums though.

For the last three years Canon was the superior camera body,,the 5d2 rocked. Now 3 yrs later it is not the top dog. Thats ok,,you can't be number 1 forever,,your competitor will find a way to beat you once in a while. I expect this camera to do very well..I have switched my opinion of it! I was one of those that was frustrated that they didn't have another superior camera, but once I calmed down and stopped complaining and whining about it, I have come to realize that its got a be pretty darn good. I will buy it when the price drops or it is available out of state at Bandh..They have it locally but I don't feel like playing an extra 275 in taxes for this thing!!

Yes I am one of those who think 36mp will not do anything for me my 22mp is not doing already. The only thing stopping from getting d800 is 36mp. I wish it had less or sRaw.

I wouldn't go for a 36MP Canon either...if it takes them 2 tries to make a 21-22MP camera, how many times will it take to make a 36MP camera worth buying?? And when its all said and done how much will it cost??? :p

You Canon fanboys have a great camera system. But, in the past, you've been very partisan and obnoxious about Canon products and quite willing to unfairly insult other brands. So now, your past excesses are coming-home-to-roust. Canon, for the time being, is playing catch-up. You'll just have to bear Nikon fanboys lording it over you.

It's so gracious of you that you're not being partisan and obnoxious yourself, thanks.
